Assumption Value
A long-term inflation rate at the mid-point of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) targeted inflation
band has been adopted throughout this analysis. While near-term forecasts are available from the
RBA and Australian Treasury for the Consumer Price Index (CPI), a single long-term value is
preferable to simplify the analysis. The rate of 2.5% is in line with the Australian Treasury's (AT 201
forecast of underlying inflation in its latest Mid-year Economic and Fiscal Outlook report for 2012-13
012 NTNDP.
