Obpr Qca Annualreport1213 Cs Emr SRMCGC 1213

This document provides technical parameters for existing coal and gas-fired generators in Queensland, including their fuel type, fuel cost profile, approximate year commissioned, and minimum generation as a percentage of capacity. It also notes that parameters are not available for non-scheduled generators or how to convert thermal efficiency measures. The information is sourced from previous energy market studies.

Queensland Gas Scheme Case Study - Short-Run Marginal Cost of Gen

This file presents the input data and methodologies adopted to

calculate the short run marginal cost (SRMC) of generators for the
Queensland Gas Scheme (QGS) case study.

Futher details the methodology framework, inputs and rationale

behind the assumptions adopted, please refer to OBPR's Findings,
Methodology, Inputs and Assumptions Queensland Gas Scheme

A long-term inflation rate at the mid-point of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) targeted inflation
band has been adopted throughout this analysis. While near-term forecasts are available from the
RBA and Australian Treasury for the Consumer Price Index (CPI), a single long-term value is
preferable to simplify the analysis. The rate of 2.5% is in line with the Australian Treasury's (AT 201
forecast of underlying inflation in its latest Mid-year Economic and Fiscal Outlook report for 2012-13

Average Capacity Factor of Generators

The average capacity factor of individual generators was calculated as follows:

CF = AHG /AMO
AMO = IC * 24 hours * 365 days
ACF = (CF)/N

where:
CF is the annual capacity factor of each generator
AHG is the annual historical generation of electricity (in MWh) (for data on historical generatio
AMO is the annual maximum potential output of each generator (in MWh)
IC is the installed capacity of each generator (in MW)
ACF is the average capacity factor of each generator derived using the average of the sum of
N is the number of years each generator has registered in the NEM and operated in the last fiv

ACF is the average capacity factor of each generator derived using the average of the sum of CF
AMO is the annual maximum potential output of each generator (in MWh) (for the calculation of

Weighted Average SRMC of A Generation Type

The weighted average SRMC of a generation type was calculated as follows:

SRMCSOWA = SRMCSO* WSRMC

where:
SRMCSOWA is the weighted average of SRMCSO of a generation type (in real 2013-14 $/MWh)
WSRMC is the weighting assigned to the SRMC of each generator based on the historical ACF w
(for the calculation of WSRMC, refer to 'Weightings for SRMC' sheet in workbook)
