Overview
Using Motor Starter ES, the communication-capable motor starters
are easily parameterized during start-up, monitored during nor-
mal operation and successfully diagnosed for service purposes.
Preventative maintenance is supported by a function for reading
out diverse statistical data (e.g. operating hours, operating cycles,
cut-off currents, etc.). The user is supported during these proce-
dures with comprehensive Help functions and plain text displays.
Motor Starter ES can either be used as a stand-alone program or
it can be integrated into STEP 7 V5.1 SP3 upwards using an
object manager.
The following components are required for a serial connection:
ET 200S motor starters, High-Feature:
Control module 2DI DC 24 V COM
3RK1 903-0CH10
LOGO! PC cable

diagnostics, documentation and the preventative maintenance PC cable
of the High-Feature motor starters of the SIMATIC ET 200S, 3RK1 911-0BN20.
ET 200pro and ECOFAST product families.

Overview Application
The PROFINET communication module SIMATIC RF180C has
been specially designed for a wide range of applications in
industrial automation and logistics. Due to the high degree of
protection IP67, SIMATIC RF180C can be installed in the pro-
cess outside the control cabinet.
Main applications for SIMATIC RF180C:
Machine manufacturing, automation systems, conveyor
systems
Ancilliary assembly lines in the automotive industry / suppliers
Small assembly lines

Overview Application
Safety local isolator modules
The Safety local isolator module features the same functions as
a standard isolator module with an additional local safety function.
The Safety local isolator module contains a 3TK28 41 module
and is equipped with M12 terminals for the connection of external
safety components.
Terminals 1 and 2 can be used to connect either 1-channel or
2-channel EMERGENCY-STOP circuits or protective door
circuits (IN 1, IN 2).
For monitored starts, an external START switch can be connected
to terminal 3.
The required safety functions can be set using 2 slide switches
located under the left M12 opening.
In the event of an EMERGENCY-STOP, the Safety local isolator
module trips the downstream 400 V disconnecting module. This
safely isolates the 400 V circuit up to Cat. 4/SIL 3.

Overview Benefits
The frequency converter is completely integrated into the
ET 200pro system and offers all the system advantages such
as cabinet-free installation, easy mounting on the module car-
rier, reduction of the wiring overhead due to self-assembling
communication and supply rails in the backplane bus, com-
prehensive diagnostic mechanisms and high availability
thanks to replaceability without affecting other modules in the
ET 200pro station.
The load voltage is routed to downstream frequency convert-
ers or motor starters with minimal installation costs through
pre-assembled jumper plugs. The maximum current carrying
capacity of the jumper plugs is 25 A.
Easy combination and expansion of converter functionality
using I/O modules or RSM isolator modules within the distrib-
uted station.
Input for PTC/KTY encoder for comprehensive motor protec-
tion
The integral 180 V DC brake control makes the rectifier in the
motor terminal box superfluous

Available control modes: Frequency control, sensorless
vector control or torque control
STARTER, the graphical parameterization tool for Siemens
drives, is used to set the parameters either over the connected
fieldbus or over a point-to-point connection
Note: Access to the frequency converter over the bus is not
possible using STARTER when a CPU is located between the
PC and a frequency converter. This also applies to the
IM154-8 CPU.
Active and dynamic braking of the motor is possible without
incurring any additional costs. The generated braking energy
is fed back into the power supply, so there is no need for
braking choppers and pulse resistors.
The fail-safe version of the frequency converter offers auto-
nomous, certified safety functions that ensure that persons
and machines are protected from the dangerous movement of
machines. Integration of the safety system into the drive also
simplifies the machine architecture and supports system-wide
diagnostics.
Minimum reaction time of the fail-safe frequency converter to
signals of safe sensors thanks to local activation through the
Safety Local Isolator Module F-RSM or via field bus with the
PROFIsafe F-Switch module.
Application Design
The frequency converter controls the speed of asynchronous
motors steplessly
The modular, service-friendly concept of the frequency con-
verter is ideally suited to manufacturing processes with high
plant standstill costs
Optimal solutions can be created using several frequency
converters combined in one distributed station when drives
are operated in the same area or for the same purposes.
The frequency converter handles frequency control for simple
applications as well as vector control for more complex drive
tasks. It also handles the optimal control of a motor brake,
if used.
The converter also supports torque control, for example, for Installation of an ET 200pro station with 2 ET 200pro FC frequency

The advantages of line-commutated power regeneration are
primarily evident in continuous regenerative operation. The ET 200pro FC consists of the following components:
