The document discusses changes in teaching and learning processes. It notes that Output-Based Education (OBE) is now emphasized, focusing on learning outcomes. However, the Distributed Learning Program (DLP) used in the author's school sometimes lacks proper execution due to short lesson times. The author interviews a teacher, finding they plan lessons ahead and ensure objectives are met through varied activities and assessments. However, lack of time prevents more interactive communication. Different learning theories like behavioral, cognitive, and discovery learning are applied. Teaching is valued for making a difference in students' lives by helping them improve and reach their potential.

BSED English Field Study 2

1. What is new in the teaching and learning process?

Compared to the old days, the teaching and learning process needs the
teacher to be the center of the class. But now, the pedagogical approach that is
used by all is the Output-Based Education or OBE. The outcome or the result is
the emphasis of this approach wherein if it doesnt meet the expectations, the
teacher may re-teach the lesson.

2. Comparison of this new teaching and learning process to my observation

The goals of this approach are great but sometimes, the lack of proper
execution defeats the purpose. In AU-EEC, DLP is the method that is being used
to implement this approach (DLP is 70% student-centered and 30% teacher-
initiated). Most of the time, the time allotment in DLP does not let the teacher to
fully explain the objectives of the lesson which results in poor execution of the
activities.

3. Interview a teacher. Ask if they perform these series of actions in the

teaching process:

PLAN: By preparing the DLP lesson plan a day before the lesson

By doing a research about the topic that needs to be delivered

IMPLEMENT: By making sure that the objectives of the lesson are met

By offering different activities to cater the different interests of

the students

EVALUATE By applying the learning to real-life situations

By having a summative assessment every quarter

4. Write insights

As much as the teachers would like to deliver the lesson to the students and
answer the questions of the students, the lack of time is preventing them in
having an interactive communication. The teacher would sometimes just leave
the concept notes to the students and if the students have questions, they can
ask the teacher later during the time for the master class.
5. Situations wherein different theories have been applied:

Behavioral Learning Theory with the DLP approach, the students reap the
benefits of spending the hours of the day talking with their classmates once they
have answered their concept notes. (Operant Conditioning Theory)

Cognitive Leaning Theory the teacher makes corrections to the mistakes of

the students both in verbal and written outputs. (Monitor Theory)

Discovery Learning Theory since the students are left with concept notes,
they can study and do a research about the lesson before the discussion.

Reception Leaning Theory this happens when the teacher discusses a lesson
and has an interactive communication with the students. The students respond
to the questions thrown by the teacher.

6. Explain why teaching and learning give life and meaning to the curriculum

The curriculum only serves as a guide to what the students should learn.
Now, the delivery of the topics is based on the skill of the teachers and the
interaction with the students.

7. Complete the following statement:

I like teaching because it lets you see that you can make a difference to
the lives of many. You can see the improvements that your students make and
hopefully, be able to maximize their potential.
