To Whom It May Concern,

It is with very mixed emotions that I write this letter of recommendation for Ms. Allison Lutz. In the
eight years that she has been employed as a teacher in our district, Allison has made an impact that will
last well beyond her departure. Allison is a phenomenal teacher, and while I understand her desire to
return home to Minnesota, it does not lessen the magnitude of the instructional loss for our district.

Allison came to Cresskill immediately after college graduation and I remember her demo lesson vividly.
It was a middle school class that used manipulatives to reinforce the concept of area of triangles. It was,
and continues to be, the best demo lesson I have seen in 19 years of education. We hired her for our
Cresskill Middle School math position immediately.

Since that time Allison has excelled as an employee of Cresskill in so many ways. She was named our
2013-2014 Teacher of the Year, and has used her extensive repertoire in a variety of levels and grades in
our middle school. Allison is always open to new ideas and methodologies, and became a teacher
leader in our Learner-Active Technology Infused Classroom (LATIC) initiative. She welcomed the
opportunity to turnkey training with our more veteran staff members, a tricky undertaking to say the
least. It was amazing to see how much respect Allison garnered despite being a relatively new teacher.

Her success in our district did not just end with the classroom, as Allison was very involved in our co-
curricular program as well. She has coached volleyball at both the Middle School and High School level,
and also served as our Middle School Yearbook advisor. Allison has been involved in every facet of our
school life.

I would implore you to take the time to meet Allison in person, and see why the Cresskill School District
will greatly miss her and all her contributions. Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss
Allisons candidacy further.

Respectfully,

Michael Burke
Superintendent
Cresskill School District
