a. The equation of an alternating current is i=141.4 sin 314t. What is r.m.s. value of current
and frequency?
b. Draw resonance curve in RLC series circuit.
c. Define unilateral elements.
d. What do you mean by apparent power, active power and reactive power?
e. Find supply voltage v in the following circuit.
f. State Thevenins Theorem.
g. Explain form factor and peak factor.
h. Explain power factor.
i. What is bandwidth in RLC series circuit?
j. Derive expression for quality factor in RLC series resonance.
Section B
Attempt any FOUR questions from the section. All carry equal marks. (54=20)
2. Find the mesh currents I1 and I2 in the following circuit.

dissipated in resistance R.

8. (a) Derive an expression for converting a Delta network into a star equivalent network.
(b) Find current I in the following network using star delta transformation.

9. (a) Derive an expression for the resonance frequency of parallel resonance circuit.
(b) A series R-L-C circuit has R=10, L=0.1 H and C=8F. Determine
(i) Resonant frequency
(ii) Q-factor of the circuit at resonance
(iii) The half power frequencies
