Bhutan often revered as the "Land of the Thunder Dragon" or 'Druk Yul', is still regarded as
one of the last "Shangri-La's" in the Himalayan region because of its remoteness, its
spectacular mountain terrain, varied flora and fauna and its unique ancient Buddhist
monasteries.

Arrive to Phuntsholing and check in to your hotels.


PHUENTSHOLING:

Phuentsholing (alt. 300m / 985 ft) - The frontier town, it is a thriving commercial centre,
situated directly at the base of Himalayan foothills. It is a fascinating place where different
ethnic groups mingle prominently Indian, Bhutanese and Nepalese. Being the border town,
Phuentsholing serves as the convenient entry/exit point for Bhutan and also the important link
to visit the Indian state of West Bengal, Sikkim and Assam. later visit;

Zangtho Pelri Lhakhang


Situated in city centre, this small temple represents the heaven of Guru Rinpoche. Zhangtho
Pelri Phuentsholing BhutanOn ground floor there are statues of eight manifestations of Guru
Rinpoche and paintings on Buddha's life while the next floor contains eight Bodhisattavas
and statues of Avalokiteshvara and Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. On top floor, there is a
main statue of Amitabha.

Evening take a down town walk.

DAY 4 - DRIVE FROM PHUENTSHOLING TO THIMPHU (180 KM/APPROX. 6


HOURS) 29/10/2016
After an early breakfast transfer to Thimphu,on arrival check-into the hotel. The capital town
of Bhutan and the center of government, religion and commerce, Thimphu is a unique city
with unusual mixture of modern development alongside ancient traditions. With the
population of about 90,000 it is perhaps still the worlds only capital city without a traffic
light.

Then visit Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang) Located at a short drive from Thimphu City
Centre, visitors can get a good overview of the Thimphu valley from the Buddha point
(Kuensel Phodrang). You can pay your obeisance and offer prayers to the Buddha, the largest
statue in the country and then walk around and take a glimpse of the valley.

Memorial Chorten

This stupa was built in 1974 in the memory of Bhutan's third King, His Late Majesty, King
Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, who is popularly regarded as Father of modern Bhutan. The paintings
and statues inside the monument provide a deep insight into Buddhist philosophy.

Also take a walk to the Coronation Park.

Located on the banks of the river (near the city stadium), this 5.6 acres of parkland offer a
pleasant and relaxing environment to stroll or to sit and watch the river flow by.

Evening time can be spent strolling through the government-run Handicrafts Emporium and
local crafts bazaar, to browse through example of Bhutan's fine traditional arts. Here you can
buy hand-woven textiles, thangkha paintings, masks, ceramics, slate and wood carvings,
jewelry, interesting items made from local materials.

DAY 5 - DRIVE FROM THIMPHU TO PUNAKHA & WANGDUEPHODRANG (75


KM/APPROX. 3 HOURS) 30/10/2016

After the early breakfast drive to Punakha across Dochu La. Located at a height of 3,088m/
10,130 ft, Dochula is a scenic location with chorten, mani wall, and prayer flags which
decorate this highest point on the road. If skies are clear, it may be possible to see the
following peaks from this pass in the order left to right: Masagang (7,158m), Tsendagang
(6,960m), Terigang (7,060m ), Jejegangphugang (7,158 m), Kangphugang (7,170 m ),
Zongphugang (7, 060 m ), a table mountain that dominates the isolated region of Lunana -
finally Gangkar puensum, the highest peak in Bhutan at 7,497m.

Later in the day excursion to Chimi Lhakhang.

The Chimi Lhakhang, situated on a hillock in the centre of the valley, is also known as the
temple of fertility. It is widely believed that couples who do not have children and wanting
one, if they pray at this temple, they are usually blessed with a child very soon. A walk
through the village near the temple will give you rare glimpses into the daily life and lifestyle
of the villagers.

Evening visit Punakha Dzong or (Palace of Great Happiness), built in 1637 by Shabdrung
Ngawang Namgyal, at the junction of the Phochu and Mochu rivers. This majestic dzong
served as both the religious and the administrative center of Bhutan in the past. It measures
some 600 by 240 feet and has a six-story, gold-domed tower. Inside are courtyards and
religious statuary that hint at the depth of history and spiritual tradition embodied here.

DAY 6 - DRIVE FROM PUNAKHA TO PARO (125 KM/APPROX. 4 HOURS) 31/10/2016

After breakfast transfer to Paro following the way back up the dramatic Wang Chhu and Paro
Chhu river valleys, before crossing through Paro town towards the north end of the valley.

En route visit Simtokha Dzong, one of the oldest fortress of the country and known as the
place of profound tantric teaching. This dzong now houses a school for the study of the
Dzongkha language.

Ta Dzong, originally built as Watchtower, which now houses National Museum. The
extensive collection includes antique thangkha paintings, textiles, weapons & armour,
household objects and a rich assortment of natural and historic artifacts.

Then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong, meaning (fortress of the heap of jewels),
which has a long and fascinating history. Along the wooden galleries lining the inner
courtyard are fine wall paintings illustrating Buddhist lore such as four friends, the old man
of long life, the wheel of life, scenes from the life of Milarepa, Mount. Sumeru and other
cosmic Mandala.
Ugyen Pelri Palace

Ugyen Pelri Palace is in a secluded wooded compound on the south side of the river just west
of the Dzong. This Palace was built by the Paro Penlop, Tsering Penjor, in the early 1900s. It
is designed after Guru Rinpoche's celestial paradise, Zangto Pelri, and is one of the most
beautiful examples of Bhutanese architecture.

Evening free for leisure.

DAY 7 - HIKE TO TAKTSHANG MONASTERY AND AFTERNOON DRIVE BACK TO


PHUNTSHOLING (160 KM/APPROX. 5 HOURS) 01/11/2016
After an early breakfast, the most important plan of your tour begins. The Hike to the
Taktsang Monastery. You will need to take a walk through the pine forest where you will see
the beauty of nature; rarest birds flying around, animals playing on the ground, flowers and
berries dangling beside you and huge trees standing by you.

Taktshang Lhakhang (Tiger's Nest)

It is one of the most famous of Bhutan's monasteries, Tiger's nest Paroperched on the side of
a cliff 900m above the Paro valley floor. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the
back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery and hence it is called "Tiger's Nest". This
site has been recognized as a most sacred place and visited by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal
in 1646 and now visited by all Bhutanese at least once in their lifetime. On 19 April, 1998, a
fire severely damaged the main structure of building but now this Bhutanese jewel has been
restored to its original splendour.

Evening an exploratory walk around main street and market area.

DAY 8 - DEPARTURE FROM PARO - PHUNTSHOLING NJP RLY STATION (170 KMS
HOURS) 02/11/2016

After a hearty breakfast, check-out from the hotel and head to New Jalpaiguri Railway
Station, for your onward journey

ENTRY PERMIT

Indian Nationals travelling between Bhutan & India do not need Visa. An identity document,
be it either passport or an election commission I. D card is, however required for presentation
at the immigration during entry, to obtain an entry permit along with 04 passport size
photographs. Indian Nationals travelling between Bhutan and Nepal require valid passport as
per Nepalese immigration regulation.
ROUTE PERMIT

It is required for those travelling to restricted areas beyond Dochula pass. The Route Permit is
processed & issued in Thimphu, only after arrival in Bhutan and on production of the Entry
Permit. Two copies of passport size photos required while processing Route Permit. Also this
permit can be processed only during working days (Mon-Fri) and applications are accepted
from 9 -11 a.m. and permit granted on same day from 3-5 p.m in summer and 3-4 p.m. in
winter.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

For all the travellers in is necessary to carry original Voter ID or Passport to travel to
Bhutan.

In case of child it is required to carry Birth Certificate along with School ID card.

To get the permit we need to submit 2 copies of passport size photograph, clear scanned
copies of the voter ID card and Passport for adults and for Kids the copy of Birth Certificate.
It is mandatory to carry the same.

The Services of Vehicle is not included on leisure days & after finishing the sightseeing tour

Additional costs due to flight cancellation, road blocks etc. Cost incidental to any change in
the itinerary/ stay on account of flight cancellation due to bad weather, ill health, roadblocks
