Asia Teach the Class Project

Objective: Groups will create a visual product and presentation to demonstrate learning of a particular topic in Asia.

Requirements: The presentation in front of class by all group members. The presentation communicates information
taken in your notebook. Each group must turn in a visual product. Ideas for a visual product are given below each topic.
Each presentation will be 4-5 minutes long.

Topic 1: Chinas dynasties and inventions


Commercial with Print Advertisement- Script out a commercial convincing the class one Chinese invention is the best of
them all. Be sure to use persuasive language and create props for the commercial.

Create a printed advertisement on a poster or power point that is helpful convincing the class that this is the best
Chinese invention during the commercial. Remember, printed ads use persuasive language too!

Topic 2: Ancient Philosophies


Create a product that compares Confucianism, Daoism, and Shintoism. For the song, skit, and newscast, turn in the
script and create props

Presentation ideas- interview, skit, song, or newscast

Topic 3- Silk Road


Create a product that details items traded (West and East), the geography of the Silk Road, ideas that were spread
(cultural diffusion) and the lasting impact. For the skit and commercial include props

Topic 4- Japan
Create a presentation that highlights Japans ESPN. The group is to convince the class to come and visit Japan. There
needs to be a mention of at least one element in each ESPN category.

Presentation Ideas- travel brochure, skit, newscast, or commercial

Topic 5- Animal Wildlife


Create a product that highlights at least two endangered animals from your homework research. The product should
cover the animal, its natural habitat location (where in Asia), why it is threatened, and how can we prevent it.

Presentation Ideas- movie preview with poster, podcast, or newscast. Visual aid is also required.

Topic 6: 20th Century China to today


Create a presentation with visual aids that communicates the change that brought communism about in the 20th
century and how the political and economic system changed over the course of the century. The group should also be
able to explain one way the government of China has brought change to the society of the people there.

Presentation ideas- documentary, mock school lesson, or human timeline.

Topic 7: Cold War- Asia Style


Create a presentation about two civil wars that occurred in Asia during the 20th century and why the US got involved.
