Double Ditty

John Xepoleas

In this lesson Ill teach you a fun yet effective way to develop your double strokes using an
exercise I call the Double Ditty. To start, learn each of the following examples. They all
combine alternate eighth notes with double stroke 16ths. Play each example slowly, then,
when you are comfortable with the rhythm and sticking, gradually increase your tempo.
Practice with a metronome. Its an essential tool to help you develop the correct timing
and feel for this exercise.
