COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to develop knowledge and skills in


information technology literate by introducing to the technology and how the technology works.
And advised to include a laboratory component where the students will have an opportunity to
use and interact with computers and other IT-related equipments.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the term, the students should be able to:


Define and discuss information technology, information literacy, information technology
literacy and information society;
Trace the evolution of computers;
Identify the other peripheral devices that may be used and explain the roles of the different
types of memories, input/ output systems and buses that may be present in a computer
system;
Differentiate the representations used to represent the different types of data (character,
integer, real, etc.);
