PITCH BLACK. A voiceover begins to sound, from a MAN with a bristle


tone to his voice.

MAN
(voiceover)
Insanity isnt dependant on how you
handle the people around you its
about how the people handle you

FADE IN:

EXT. - RIVERBANK -- DAY

A man with a hooded top, wearing a BACKPACK WALKS across the


riverbank, hands in pockets and walking slowly.

He PULLS DOWN his hood, still walking this is JASON TODD (20),
the protagonist.

JASON
(voiceover, contd)
me - Jason Peter Todd would know
that better than anybody.

JASON continues to WALK, with his hands back in his pockets.

JASON
(voiceover)
When a bad person is employed by a
mentor to do something good after a
treacherous youth the inner rage,
the turmoil, which builds up inside
of you, kept together and under
control by the people who you look up
to the most, sometimes just explodes
and results in mass destruction.

He TURNS AROUND, wary of his surroundings, cautiously.

JASON then opens his BACKPACK inside is a RED CLOTH MASK. This
covers his identity as a ruthless vigilante operating in GOTHAM
CITY, known as the RED HOOD.

JASON begins to CHECK his surroundings again.

JASON
(voiceover, contd)
Explaining yourself to him isnt easy
either. I was always put
under a set of guidelines that I
didnt want to follow.

It restricts your freedom. It


restricts your personal judgment on
what you think is right what should
be punishable by such actions and
what you should just let slide away.

He TURNS AROUND slowly, continuing on across the riverbank, putting


the RED MASK back in his bag slyly.

CUT TO:

EXT. - ALLEYWAY NIGHT

JASON is now on the streets of GOTHAM CITY, adopting the persona of


the RED HOOD. He wears a BIKER JACKET and the RED MASK. Using his
pistols, SHOOTING, KILLING criminals.

JASON
(voiceover, contd)
Now, Im free. I can do whatever I
want. Clearing up the vermin instead
of my mentor putting them into
Arkham, only for them to break out
and commit the same crimes again, or
worse

After killing all the criminals except one, RED HOOD drops a
calling card it has a JOKER, covered in a HAND-DRAWN RED BAT
SYMBOL.

He PULLS a PISTOL towards the remaining criminals head, but


PAUSES.

A set of FLASHES appears on screen THE JOKERs face. He is


GIGGLING hysterically, looking directly at the viewer.

JASON begins to BREATHE HEAVILY. The flashbacks they STARTLE him.

FLASH TO:

INT. - SECLUDED ROOM - NIGHT

(FLASHBACK) THE JOKER emerges from the darkness and laughs


hysterically, tapping a CROWBAR in his hands.

At this time, Jason is the second ROBIN, but not in his costume
on the floor, WIMPERING in pain, as THE JOKER brutally HITS him
repeatedly with the weapon, LAUGHING and GIGGLING.

JASON
(voiceover, contd)
because when people are back on the
streets of Gotham, and set out to
destroy everything in his life
thats when others get caught in the
crossfire. People who you considered
family become distant.

JOKER
You know

The clown RACES towards JASONs face.

JOKER
(shouting, contd)
I see potential

He steps back, PATTING the crowbar between his gloved HANDS. THE
JOKER slowly looks up again at JASON, who is petrified.

JOKER
(contd)
but its a shame youre working
with the Bat!

ZOOM IN - to the shadow of the wall behind it, THE JOKER is


continuously POUNDING his CROWBAR against JASON TODDs body. His
laugh RISES even more, SCREACHING with JOY.

JASON
(voiceover)
But in the end, it was me who the
clown really destroyed.

FLASH TO:

EXT. - ALLEYWAY - NIGHT

The ECHO of THE JOKERS laugh continues to ring in JASONs head.

JASON has his GUN still pointed at the criminals head. His head is
FACING DOWN, trying to regain himself after the hallucinogenic
flashback. But it isnt enough.

JASON
(shouts loud)

JASON raises his head, LOOKS directly into the criminals eyes and
SHOUTS in an episode of rage and anger combined. He immediately
SHOOTS his pistol into the criminals head
