A great deal of todays drawings is drawn with a computer. This activity will
explore the basic commands in AutoCAD that are used to design a simple floor
plan to a 16 x 20 storage shed. Many of the commands that are used in
mechanical drafting will be utilized. After drawing the problem in assignment
one the learner will advance to more complex and detailed floor plans.

MODULE OBJECTIVES
After completion of this module, the student should be able to:

1. recognize the available career choices within the area.


2. draw assigned problems that enable mastery of AutoCAD functions and
commands.
3. navigate and save files using Windows.
4. identify the correct line types and layers that are necessary in drawing with
AutoCAD.
5. dimension drawings and dimension styles.
6. use editing and duplication commands.
7. determine and set the scale for assignments.
8. label and identify drawings in a Title Block.
9. plot or print drawings that are scaled.

PRECAUTIONS
1. Use care when handling compact and hard disk.
2. Do not reboot the computer ask the instructor for assistance when needed.
3. Only work with assigned software programs.
4. Do not bring any personal computer disk or compact disk to use without
teacher permission.
5. Be sure you are logged-on to the computer using your user name and password.
6. Save your work regularly. (Every 15 minutes is a good idea.)
