WELDING ENGINEER- QUALIFICATION

1. Thorough knowledge in Welding Standards of ASME Section IX and AWS D 1.1


Structural steel Fabrication. Preferably with CSWIP or AWS Certification.

2. Familiar with Welding Procedure Qualification (WPS), Welder Qualification Record


(WQR), Welding Procedure Qualification Record (WPQR) Material Grades,
Selection of Electrodes, Weld Visual Inspection.

3. Good knowledge in Radiographic Interpretation of weld joints (RT), Ultrasonic


Inspection (UT), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPT) and Penetrant Test (DPT),
Reporting and Documentation. Preferably with ASNT LEVEL II Certification

4. Thorough Knowledge in Engineering Drawing interpretation and welding symbols


American & British Standards

5. Knowledge in preparation of technical reports and Plans for Inspection as a result of


observation and repair Inspection Test Plan (ITP), Fit Up Report, Weld visual Report,
NDT inspection report

6. Knowledge in Welding Techniques- SMAW, MIG, SAW Machines, Welding Defects,


Welding machine calibration

7. Must be able to Establish welding procedures to guide production and welders relating
to specified restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements which
involve the use of complex alloys-SS, Hardox , unusual fabrication methods, welding
of critical joints

8. Good Communication Skills - Contacts personnel of other agencies, engineering


personnel, or clients to exchange ideas, information, or offer technical advice
concerning welding materials.

Minimum 5 years Experience as Welding Engineer or QA/QC
Engineer
B. Tech/BE in Mechanical Engineering (4 Year)
CSWIP/AWS Certification
ASNT Level II/ASNT Level III
