2. Installing the Game Using "Autorun"
=============================================================
a.) Installing FIFA 2004
The easiest method of installing FIFA 2004 is to use the "Autorun" feature. Upo
n inserting the FIFA CD1 into your CD-ROM drive, you may be prompted with a "Dia
log" screen. Select the language you wish to install.
To continue, click 'Next'. The "Autorun" menu appears; select 'Install' to laun
ch the FIFA 2004 Installer.
The 'CD Key' screen appears, enter the serial key found on the back of the CD ca
se and click 'OK'.
The next screen will enable you to decide where and how you want to install FIFA
2004 -- perform a "Typical User" or an "Advanced User" install.
The "Typical User" install (default setting) will install FIFA 2004 to C:\Progra
m Files\EA SPORTS\ FIFA 2004 (where "C:\" is the drive that your current operati
ng system is located).
The "Advanced User" option brings you to another popup, which allows you to choo
se the install footprint size and the install location.
b.) If for some reason your "Autorun" feature is disabled, you can install the p
rogram by running AUTORUN.EXE directly from the root directory of the CD.
Note: Manually performing a second FIFA 2004 install before uninstalling the ori
ginal game files is not recommended. More specifically, installing into the same
location twice can cause the game to malfunction. To avoid problems, the "Auto
run" feature should be used for all installs and uninstalls.
=============================================================
3. DirectX 8.1
=============================================================
If you try to run the game without DirectX 8.1 installed, you will be prompted t
o upgrade before the game installation begins. For your convenience, we have inc
luded DirectX 8.1 on the FIFA CD1.

Note: If you already have DirectX 8.1 (or higher) installed, it is not necessary
to reinstall it.
a.) Installing DirectX directly from CD
FIFA 2004 comes with DirectX 8.1 and will prompt you to install it during the in
stallation process. If you would like to install it manually, make sure the FIF
A CD1 is in the CD-ROM drive, and access the following path on your CD-ROM drive
:
"\DirectX\DXSETUP.EXE"
Double-click on DXSETUP.EXE to begin DirectX 8.1 installation.
b.) DirectX and supported hardware
We recommend that FIFA 2004 be run with DirectX 8.1 compatible sound cards and v
ideo cards.
We also suggest you update your sound card and video card driver to the newest r
elease from the vendor or chipset website.
=============================================================
4. Uninstalling FIFA 2004
=============================================================
The simplest method of uninstalling FIFA 2004 is to use "Uninstall FIFA 2004" sh
ortcut in the Start Menu (usually "Start Menu/All Programs/EA Sports/FIFA 2004/U
ninstall FIFA 2004").
Windows also has an "Add/Remove Programs" Icon in the Control Panel that you can
use to uninstall the game.
=============================================================
5. Memory Requirements
=============================================================
a.) Memory requirements in Windows
FIFA 2004 requires a minimum of 64 MB of RAM to run the game (128 Mb is required
for Windows XP and Windows 2000).
Note: The more system memory available, the better the game will perform in all
areas.
b.) Running the game under stressful Windows conditions
At Electronic Arts we strive to bring you the best in graphics, audio and gamepl
ay. We are always pushing the envelope of computer performance. While we have m
ade every effort to ensure that FIFA 2004 multi-tasks with all Windows applicati
ons, we recommend that you shut down other applications (including virus scanner
s) and run FIFA 2004 by itself when possible.
c.) Virtual memory
We recommend that you let your operating system automatically manage the amount
of virtual memory.
=============================================================
6. Improving Game Speed
=============================================================
There are several ways by which you can speed up the overall FIFA 2004 experienc
e:
a.) Choose a larger install - the more data that is on your hard drive, the less
time your PC needs to spend accessing the CD.

b.) Adjust the resolution in Game Settings in the Options menu

c.) Disable the radar from the Basic Settings screen.
d.) Select the "On the Pitch" sound effects mix on the Audio Settings screen.
=============================================================
7. Hot Keys
=============================================================
The following hot keys can be used in the game to access certain functions more
quickly:
ESC - Pause Menu

BROADCAST
END TO END
ACTION
SIDELINE
RADAR On/Off

=============================================================
8. Mouse, Keyboard and Controller Functionality
=============================================================
You can use the mouse, keyboard or controller to navigate the game interface.
Once you are on the Side select screen, you must move whichever input device you
plan to use in the game to the left or the right to select your team.
Please note that you may have to recalibrate your controllers in Windows in orde
r to have the game detect them correctly.
We highly recommend the use of a 360 analog gamepad such as the Logitech(R) Dual
Action(TM)
To bring up the in-game pause menus, you can press the Start button (if your gam
epad has one) or press ESC.
