How to enter Service Mode to different brand televisions

Service Mode (Factory Mode)


LG, JVC, MITSUBISHI, MAGNAVOX, PIONEER-Plasma, SANYO
, SHARP, SAMSUNG, SONY (TV and Projectors), RCA, GE, ZENITH
JVC
Press DISPLAY and VIDEO STATUS on the remote control simultaneously to enter the
SERVICE MENU
Press MENU UP/DOWN to select an item (including other menus)
Press MENU LEFT/RIGHT to adjust
Press EXIT to return to a previous menu. Press again to EXIT
or
Press SLEEP TIMER and set the SLEEP TIMER for "0" MIN.
Press DISPLAY and VIDEO STATUS at the same time (while
The SLEEP TIMER information is still on screen) to enter the SERVICE MENU
Press MENU UP/DOWN to select an item (including other menus)
Press MENU LEFT/RIGHT to adjust
Press EXIT to return to a previous menu. Press again to EXIT
JVC sets from 1995
Set the clock to 3:21 AM.
Start the clock as you normally would but press MUTE while "Thank you" is flashi
ng.
Press MENU up or down just after MUTE.
Use UP/ DOWN to select options and LEFT/ RIGHT to adjust. The settings are autom
atically saved when you exit.
LG
Buy the LG Service Remote. LG 105-201M OR (holding both menu and 'Ok' buttons on
the remote & the front panel).
Other ways to try are:
1.Press and hold the OK buttons. With your television turned on, press and hold
both the one on the remote and the one on the television itself.
Hold them for about five to seven seconds, until the service menu appears.
Some LG models allow you to access the service or installation menus with the OK
button, but others require
1. To press and hold the MENU buttons.
For other models again, both these methods will work, and will bring you to sepa
rate menus
2.Enter the password. Your television may or may not require a password to acces
s the service menu. If one is required, there are several password options that
may work, including:

3.Write down the default menu settings. In case anything happens when you re playi
ng with the menu or in the future, you want to know what the original settings w
ere so you can restore the television if necessary
4.Make the desired changes. The LG service menu gives you several feature and ad
justment options that allow you to tweak the audio and visual settings, change c
olor settings, upgrade the television, and more.
Under the PICTURE menu s standard settings, you can control the brightness, contra
st, color, sharpness, and tint. Under the white balance settings, you can change
the color values and temperatures.[6]
Under SOUND, you can alter the treble and base, the volume curve, and the maximu
m and minimum volumes, or make audio adjustments for the output settings.
Under GENERAL, you can make changes to the back-light flicker frequency and brig
htness, test the colors, and set power mode instructions that will tell your tel
evision what to do after a power shut down (this is especially useful for people
who experience frequent power surges or outages.
With UPGRADE, you can upgrade the firmware in your television, which will improv
e the device s operation. Firmware updates are generally available every couple mo
nths.
5.Check the changes. Once you ve made a change, don t save the new settings until yo

u ve noted what effects those changes had. That way, if you don t like the result, y
ou can try again, or turn off the television to restore the original settings an
d try again.
6.Save the new settings. If you re happy with the effects of the changes you made,
go ahead and save the new settings by pressing OK on the remote.
Accessing the Installation Menu
1.Press and hold the MENU buttons. With your television turned on, press and hol
d both the one on the remote and the one on the television itself.[10] Hold them
for about five to seven seconds, until the installation menu appears
2.Enter the password. For the installation menu, try the password 1105.[12] If t
his doesn t work, try the passwords used for the service menu.
3.Make the desired changes. The installation menu will give you access to hotel
mode and the TV s USB settings, and give you the option to change the password. Sa
ve changes by pressing OK on the remote.
In the installation menu, you can enable hotel mode, or disable it to give you m
ore control over the television functions.
The USB setting lets you program the television to automatically detect a USB th
at s inserted into the slot at the back, thereby allowing you to access audio and
video files on the USB from your television
MAGNAVOX
1) with the set ON, push: 0 6 2 5 9 6 then MENU.
The channels will change but when menu is pressed, the TV will enter the service
menu.
Press MENU to change adjustments
To save your changes, press POWER on the TV set. "Preset Memory" will appear, th
en the set will power down.
Note: Before entering service menu mode, make sure you power the TV on, off, and
back on using the POWER button on the TV only.
This should enable you to use the power-off button on the TV, after you made you
r changes, allowing you to saving them.
2) With the set OFF, push 0-6-2-5-9-6 STATUS. Set will come on in SERVICE MODE.
Shut power off at the set to save settings. Some sets require that you unplug t
he set to save the settings.
3) Press MENU on the remote, while the menu is still up press the numbers 0 6 1
5 9 6 or 0 6 1 5 9 7.
One of these will bring up the service menu.
Press LEFT/ RIGHT arrows to select an item
Press UP/ DOWN arrows to adjust
4) Enter 1 6 2 5 9 6 then MENU to enter the adjustment mode on some sets.
Enter 0 6 2 5 9 7 then MENU to enter the convergence mode on some projection TV?

With the set OFF, push 0-6-2-5-9-7-STATUS.
MITSUBISHI
For Factory Menu, press MENU 1 3 7 0
Service Adjustment Mode, press MENU 2 3 5 7
Convergence Mode, press MENU 2 3 5 9
Use the VIDEO or VIDEO buttons to enter two different groups of adjustments
Use the VIDEO / VIDEO buttons to toggle thru the adjustments
Use the + and - keys to adjust
When finished with adjustments, press ENTER to save
Press MENU twice to exit service mode

Press CHAN UP / DOWN on remote to select an item
Press VOL LEFT / RIGHT to adjust.
2. Short test point FA1 to cold ground FA2 (A-board: TP pin 8 to pin 3)
Receiver is in Aging Mode with yellow 'CHK' in the upper-left corner
Press ACTION and VOL+ simultaneously on the control panel and 'CHK' should be in
red
The set is now in Serviceman Mode, press POWER on remote to select one of the fi
ve Serviceman Adjustment Modes:
B = VCJ Sub Adjustments
C = CRT Adjustments
D = Pincushion Adjustments
S = Options Adjustments (PIP and clock)
Press CHAN UP / DOWN on remote to select an item
Press VOL LEFT / RIGHT to adjust.
3. TX-W28R3 (and similar models)
Set BASS to maximum position, set TREBLE to minimum position
Press REVEAL on the remote control and at the same time press VOLUME on the TV.
This will place the TV into the Service mode
Press the RED / GREEN buttons to select an item
Press the YELLOW / BLUE buttons to adjust
Press STORE on the preset panel after each adjustment has been made to store the
required values
To exit the Service Mode, press NORMALIZATION
RCA/GE CTC175 thru CTC187
Turn TV on - Press and hold MENU - Press POWER - Press VOL+
P00 and V00 will be displayed (left and right sides of screen)
Release MENU - Press VOL+ to set V00 to no. V76
Press CH+ to select an adjustment that you want to change.

SHARP
1. Newer TVs unplug tv for few seconds then hold vol.down and input buttons next
plug TV power cord in popup code should appear. then hold ch- and vol- to enter
menu, use ch -+ and vol+- to adjust settings, press enter to select then unplug
tv power or turn off tv to exit.
2. Press menu 9,9,9,2,2,2 service menu should appear
3. Hold VOLUME UP and CHANNEL UP buttons in while plugging set into power. TV co
mes up in service mode.
Press CHAN + or CHAN - to select an adjustment that you want to change
Press VOL+ or VOL- to adjust
Turn TV on. Press RESET (in the video adjust menu) to ensure customer controls a
re in their proper reset position.
Momentarily short TP2001 to TP2002.
Press CHAN + or CHAN - to select an adjustment that you want to change
Press VOL+ or VOL- to adjust.
SONY
Using the remote control:
Turn the TV off.
Press [DISPLAY] [5] [VOL+] [POWER ON] buttons.
OR
Press [DISPLAY] [5] [POWER ON] buttons.
The Service Menu will be displayed.
Use numbers [1] and [4] to select the item to adjust.
Use numbers [3] and [6] to adjust the value of the data.
Press [MUTE] then [ENTER] to save new settings.
The words "WRITE" in red will show up in the upper right corner if saved.
Turn the TV off to exit the service menu.
Sony PROJECTORS

Press {ENTER} {ENTER} {UP ARROW} {DOWN ARROW} {ENTER}
Then {UP ARROW} when it asks: "Do you want to enter the Service Mode?".
Factory Mode

Press {ENTER} {ENTER} {LEFT ARROW} {ENTER}
Then {UP ARROW} when it asks: "Do you want to enter the Factory Mode?".
Any additional menus usually pop up under the main INFORMATION menu.
Access "Menu" and make sure "Status" is On.
Exit the "Menu".

Select "Yes" when it asks: "Do you want to enter the Service Mode?".

STANDBY - DISPLAY - VOL+ - POWER
To raise/lower service item no: press numeric buttons 1 or 4
To raise/lower data value: press:
MUTING Button on handset
To execute writing in memory; press 0 on handset
To cancel service mode ; turn the TV into standby by pressing POWER button on the
handset, and then again switch on the TV by pressing the same button.

Unplug the TV power cord from the electrical outlet.
Allow the TV to remain without power for one minute.
Plug the power cord back in to the electrical outlet.
IMPORTANT: The TV should turn on automatically. If it does not, go ahead and tur
n it on.
While the TV is turned on, unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet as b
efore.
Allow the TV to remain without power for another minute.
Perform a factory reset.
After a picture or display information appears, wait two seconds and then press
and hold the up arrowbutton on the remote control.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the remote control is pointed towards the front and center
of the TV.
While holding the up arrow button, press and release the Power on button on the
side of the TV. Reset will appear momentarily on the lower left hand corner of t
he TV.
NOTE: If the reset procedure does not start immediately after the picture or dis
play information appears, the reset will not work properly. In this case, start
this procedure again.
Release the up arrow button on the remote control and wait for the TV to reset.
NOTES:
If the Reset message does not appear and the TV turns off and on, begin again fr
om step 5.
If the standby light begins blinking eight times, return to step 1.
After the Reset message appears, allow the TV to reset. Do not press any buttons
on the remote control or on the TV and do not make any other adjustments for 1
minute.
Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
Allow the TV to remain without power for 10 seconds.
Plug the power cord back in to the electrical outlet.
Turn on the TV.
With the set OFF, quickly press DISPLAY 5 VOL+ PWR. The word SERVICE will be dis
played
Press 1 or 4 to select an adjustment that you want to change
Press 3 or 6 to adjust
Press MUTE then ENTER to save each adjustment.
Sony TVs made in 1990's press and hold a recessed button on the rear of the set
as you turn the TV on instead of pressing DISPLAY, 5, VOL+, PWR (hole for button
is under VIDEO jacks)

With the set ON, press MUTE once remote, then press MUTE again and hold in down
while pressing MENU on the TV

Turn the Vizio TV off.

Press and hold the "CH + & CH " buttons on the TV.
Then press and release the "POWER" button on the "TV".
Release the CH+ & CH- buttons.
Press the MENU button on the remote.
You should get your regular menu up, but with a F in the bottom right corner of th
e menu (factory reset)
Press and hold the MENU button for few seconds.
The Service Menu will be displayed.

Turn off the Vizio TV.
Press and hold the "CH+ & CH-" buttons on TV.
Then press and hold the POWER button on the TV.
Keep all three buttons pressed for few seconds.
Press the MENU button on the remote.
You should get your regular menu up, but with a F in the bottom right corner of th

Press and hold the MENU button for few seconds.
Service Menu will be displayed.
Pioneer
Plasma Pioneer 3rd Generation
Make sure the set is in standby
Hold down INPUT + VOL+ buttons on the panel.
Turn on the Plasma Pioneer at the panel.
The service menu will come up.
Plasma 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th generation
Make sure the Plasma and the Media Box are in standby.
Using the remote control, Press DISPLAY button (only press, do not hold) and wai
t 5 seconds.
Press {LEFT + UP + LEFT + RIGHT + POWER buttons.
The Pioneer Plasma will turn on and be in the service menu.
ZENITH
Press and hold MENU until the user menu disappears (5 - 10 sec.)
The remote or the keyboard on the set can be used
Immediately press 9, 8, 7, 6, ENTER (this will bring up the service menu)
On models with 10 buttons keyboard, without delay, press simultaneously ADJ. RIG
HT and CH+
On model with 6 button key board, without delay, press simultaneously VOL+ and C
H Press and hold MENU until the menu disappears
The set should now be in the service menu mode.
To access most of the features selection 00 needs to be toggled from 0 to 1
After your adjustments 00 needs to be toggled from 1 to 0
To exit the service menu press ENTER
