Course Plan

The document outlines the syllabus for the Mechanics of Solids course in the third semester of a B.Tech program. It covers 5 units: 1) stress and strain concepts, stress-strain relationships for different materials, and Hooke's law; 2) flexural loads on beams and stresses in different beam cross-sections; 3) combined loads, principal stresses and strains, and failure theories; 4) torsion in circular shafts and stability of columns; and 5) transverse beam deflection and stresses in thin-walled pressure vessels. The number of proposed and actual lectures for each unit are also included.
