Components of EPM System

Oracle Hyperion Foundation Services:- Oracle Hyperion Foundation

Services software provides a single, shared infrastructure to install the EPM
system, manage users, security, metadata and the application lifecycle.
Oracle HTTP Server:- Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) is the Web server
component for Oracle Fusion Middleware. It provides a HTTP listener for
Oracle WebLogic Server and the framework for hosting static pages, dynamic
pages, and applications over the Web. Key aspects of Oracle HTTP Server are
its technology, its serving of both static and dynamic content and its
integration with both Oracle and non-Oracle products.
Oracle WebLogic Server:- WebLogic Server is an application server: a
platform for developing and deploying multitier distributed enterprise
applications. WebLogic Server centralizes application services such as Web
server functionality, business components, and access to backend enterprise
systems. It uses technologies such as caching and connection pooling to
improve resource use and application performance. WebLogic Server also
provides enterprise-level security and powerful administration facilities.
Oracle Hyperion EPM Architect:- Oracle Hyperion EPM Architect is a
feature of Oracle Hyperion Foundation Services and is integrated with Oracle
Hyperion Financial Management, Oracle Hyperion Planning, Oracle Essbase,
Oracle Hyperion Profitability and Cost Management, and Oracle Hyperion
Data Relationship Management. Performance Management Architect enables
administrators to manage, create, and deploy Hyperion applications within
one interface.
Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager:- You use Calculation Manager to
create, validate, deploy, and administer sophisticated calculations that solve
Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, Oracle Hyperion Planning, and
Oracle Essbase business problems. You access Calculation Manager from
within Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Workspace.
Essbase Server:- Essbase Server is a database for storing data with
multiple dimensions such as time, accounts, regions, channel, or product. It
manages analytical data models, data storage, calculations, and data
security.

EAS (Essbase Administration Services):- This Essbase component is an

administration tool for Essbase. Administration Services consists of a Java
middle-tier server, called Essbase Administration Server, and a Java client
console, called Administration Services Console.
Hyperion Provider Services:- This Essbase component is a dedicated
data-source provider to Essbase for Java API, Smart View, and XMLA clients.
Oracle Essbase Integration Services:- Oracle Essbase Integration
Servicesan optional product componentprovides a metadata-driven
environment to bridge the gap between data stored in Essbase databases
and detailed data stored in relational databases. The Hybrid Analysis feature
gives business users more detail for decision-making and IT managers more
modularity in designing and maintaining large-scale analytic applications.
Hybrid Analysis allows portions of Essbase databases to be stored in a
relational database. This relational-stored data is mapped to the appropriate
Essbase hierarchies.
Workspace:- When deployed with Oracle Business Intelligence, this EPM
component provides a user interface for viewing and interacting with content
created using Oracle Business Intelligence, Financial Reporting and
Calculation Manager.
Oracle Essbase Studio:- Essbase Studio simplifies cube construction by
delivering a single environment for performing tasks related to data
modeling, cube designing, and analytic application construction. With a
wizard-driven user interface, Essbase Studio supports modeling of the
various data source types from which Essbase applications are typically built.
Analytic Services:- Analytic Services a multi-threaded OLAP database
software that takes advantage of symmetric multi processing hardware
platforms is based upon Web-deployable, thin-client architecture. The server
acts as a shared resource, handling all data storage, caching, calculations,
and data security. The Analytic Server client needs only to retrieve and view
data that resides on a server.
