INVITATION TO ALL STAKEHOLDERS

Subject: Public Comments for Draft of Technical Drawing for


Sewerage System Sewers and Appurtenances : Gravity Sewer.
The National Water Services Commission (SPAN) has developed a
Technical Drawing for Sewerage System Sewers and Appurtenances :
Gravity Sewer.
The development of this document is an initiative by SPAN to regulate
construction of the sewerage system through the specifications detailed
in the technical drawings in accordance with Section 45 (1) and Section
46 of Water Services Industry Act 2006 (Act 655).
This technical drawing has been developed together with the
stakeholders through a Technical Working Group that is established and
represented by various agencies and organisations namely:
1. Technical Standards and Compliance Division, Sewerage
Regulatory Department, SPAN;
2. Sewerage Services Department, KeTTHA;
3. Indah Water Konsortium Sdn. Bhd. Engineering Department;
4. Indah Water Konsortium Sdn. Bhd. Operation Department;
5. Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia ACEM;
6. Association of Environmental Consultants & Companies of
Malaysia (AECCOM).
The technical drawings are basically classified into two types:
1. Standard Technical Drawing a drawing that establishes
uniformed and fixed engineering aspects comprising of technical
criteria, methods, processes and practices. The development of
the technical drawing is made based on current established
industrial requirements . The drawing shall be strictly adhered to
with no modifications allowed.

2. Typical Technical Drawing a drawing that sets dominant and


generally accepted engineering aspects for its technical criteria,
methods, processes and practices. The setting is made based on
the best practices that has been applied on the ground.
Modifications can be made to its dimensions and arrangements,
but not for its engineering components.
One of the procedures to asses the developed technical drawing is by
gathering comments and feedbacks from the stakeholders. Hence,
SPAN would like to invite stakeholders to offer comments and feedback
on the Technical Drawing for Sewerage System Sewers and
Appurtenances : Gravity Sewer in relation to the relevant principles and
criteria in the draft. Your inputs are certainly welcome.
