Scientists Involved Year Germplasm Collected Areas Explored

Over several decades from 1912 to 2015, scientists explored many regions of India and Southeast Asia to collect germplasm of wild relatives of coconut. Some of the key areas explored included North India, Bihar, Sikkim, Thailand, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Nagaland, Assam, and Maharashtra. In total, over 3,000 accessions of coconut germplasm were collected from these areas.
