Lesson Seven His
Lesson Seven His
His
Strong form: hIz; weak form: Iz
The strong form / hIz / is always used when the word occurs
contrastively, (e.g. Its his not hers), and when it is in final
position, (e.g. He said it was his). When the word is unstressed
the weak pronunciation is usually / Iz / (e.g. Take his name /
teIk Iz neIm /).
