The e-Book Viewer provides various functions to read and utilize electronic
publications, such as EPUB3, from not only desktop computer but also from mobile
devices.

Screen configuration of the eBook Viewer


2.1. Full Screen
eBook Viewer screen can be divided into 4 sections: Top Menu Bar, where the title
and the function icons available in the eBook viewer are displayed; the Body, where
the contents are displayed; Page Arrows to move the pages; and Navigation Bar,
where the progress and the current page is displayed.

Description

Top Menu Bar

Displays the reading contents title and functions available in the eBook Viewer.

Body

Displays the contents of the publication .

Page Arrows
(Previous, Next)

Turn page to either previous or next page .

Navigation Bar

Displays progress of the reading. Can navigate to desired page using progress bar.

2.2. Top Menu Bar


The Top Menu Bar consists of 11 following functions.

All the functions used in the eBook Viewer are available in the Top Menu Bar.

Annotations

Book Title

Note

Displays table of contents and resource list.


Displays all the annotations.
(Highlights, Memos, Bookmarks, Drawings)
Displays the title of currently opened publication.

Adds notes to the contents.

Media Overlays Controller

Description

Play, pause, stop and adjust speed of the media overlaid


contents.

Drawing

Displays the Drawing tool.

Zoom

Zoom in to or out of the page.

Find Text

Displays the Find Text tool.

Print

Prints currently opened page.

User Setting

Displays the User Setting window.

Bookmark

Bookmark or delete bookmark of currently opened page.

2.3. Navigation Bar

Navigation Bar displays the reading progress, and provides page navigation
function.

Current Page

Displays currently opened page.

Total Pages

Displays the total page of the reading contents.

Go button

Move to the page typed in the Current Page by clicking the Go button.

Reading Progress Bar

Displays the reading progress. Navigate to desired page by clicking


anywhere in the progress bar.

2.4. Table of Contents Panel


The Book tab displays the table of contents of the reading contents. Click the title
to navigate to that page.

2.5. Resource List Panel


The Resource Tab displays the resource information, related to texts and pages.
Click the texts to navigate to that page.

2.6. Note Panel


The Note panel allows users to add notes on anywhere of the reading contents.
The saved notes are displayed on the bottom part of the screen and they can be
edited and/or deleted.

2.7. Zoom Panel


The Zoom panel is used to zoom in to or out of currently opened page. Users can
click the plus / minus icons or move the zoom point left and right to zoom in and out.

2.8. Find Text Panel


The Find Text panel provides users to quickly search for texts within the reading
contents.
Enter words or a sentence to search, and the search results will include page
number as well as chapter/section where the searched texts are found. Click the
result to move to the page.

The User Settings panel allows users to apply desired style to view the reading

Change the font size of the reading contents. 5 sizes available.

Change the font style of the reading contents. 5 styles available.

Line Spacing

Change the line spacing of the reading contents. 3 varieties available.

Page Margin

Change the page margin of the reading contents. 3 varieties available.

Page Display

Choose to view the reading contents single / double page.

Apply Button

Click to apply the changes made.

Cancel Button

Click to close the User Settings.

The Annotations Menu will pop up when the user drags the texts, and the
following functions can be used.

Search the selected words/phrases with search engines such as Google and Wikipedia.

Shares the selected words/phrases via email and SNS, such as Facebook and Twitter.

3.1. View/Move Page


There are three ways to move the pages in the e-book viewer.
Option 1. Click the either side of the screen to move to previous or next page.

Option 2. Move the page by clicking and navigating the Progress Bar located in the
bottom.

Option 3. Enter the desired page number on the field located in the Navigation Bar.

3.2. Annotations Menu


3.2.1. Highlight
Highlight important texts by dragging the mouse over.

There are five colors to choose from: blue, orange, yellow, green, and grey. You can
also edit and/or delete the highlighted area.

Select the highlighted area to change the highlight color or to delete.


Once the pop-up menu appears, you can change the color or delete the highlights .

3.2.2. Memo
Create a memo on the reading contents by using the Memo function from the
Annotation Menu.

The area where memo has been created will be identified with underline.

You can view the saved memo by clicking the underlined area, and can also edit or
remove the memo using the Save and Remove Memo button.

3.2.3. Bookmark
Create a bookmark to easily go back and forth to the pages. Bookmark pages with
interesting and useful information and/or references.

Click the bookmark icon located on the Top Menu Bar to create a bookmark. Once
the bookmark has been created, the red bookmark tab will appear.

To delete the bookmark, move to the bookmarked page and click the bookmark icon.

*The bookmark tab will be displayed on the left when the page display is set as double page.

3.2.4. Drawing Tools


Use the Drawing Tool draw on the reading contents where needed.
You can use the Drawing Tool to draw on the contents with different thicknesses
and colors. The drawing can be removed with the eraser tool.
The drawing tools allow users to switch from Reading Mode to Drawing Mode, and
vice versa.

Drawing Tools can only be used on e-books that supports the drawing functions. The
Drawing Tool icon will be displayed on the Top Menu Bar of the supported e-books.

The Drawing Tools are activated only on ( ) mode. When activated, the Drawing
Tool can set the color and thickness of the pen, and also erase the drawings. All
drawings can be removed with the Reset button.

3.2.5. Annotations
Click the Annotations icon located in the Top Menu Bar to view all saved annotations.

The Annotations are composed of Highlight, Memo, Bookmark, and Drawing tab. By
clicking the each tab, will display the detailed information such as date added.

You can delete the selected item(s) by checking the box on the left, and clicking the
Delete button.

3.3. Zoom Functions


The Zoom functions allow you to magnify or reduce the scale of currently opened
page on the e-Book Viewer. The Zoom icon is located in the Top Menu Bar.

Click the Zoom icon to display the sliding bar. You can click the
move the ( ) of the sliding bar to zoom in and out.

3.4. Print Function


Print the currently opened page with the Print function located in the Top Menu Bar.

The Print function uses the default UI provided by the browser in use, and settings
can be changed depending on the printers used.

3.5. Find Text Functions


The Find Text panel functions are used to quickly search for desired texts within the
reading contents.
The Find Text icon is located in the Top Menu Bar, and by clicking the icon, will
display the Find Text window.

Enter the texts to search on the provided field and click the Find button. The search
results will be displayed with the location and page number of the text found.

Click the result to move to the page.

3.6. Table of Contents/Resource List Functions


Click the TOC/Resource List icon to view the contents of the currently opened
reading contents.

The Contents window will be displayed by clicking the TOC/Resource List icon
located in the Top Menu Bar. TOC of the reading contents is available in the Book
tab, and the resource information is available in the Resource tab.

3.7. Note Functions


The Note functions allow users to create a note in terms of the entire reading
contents. Click the Note Editor icon located in the Top Menu Bar to open the Notes
window.

The Notes Window is composed of title and notes fields, Save, Delete and New
buttons and Saved Notes section.
To edit, select the note from the Saved Notes section, edit and save by clicking the
Save button. To Delete the note, select the note from the Saved Notes section, and
click the Delete button.

To create a new note, click the New button, enter the title and note contents, and
click the Save button.

3.8. User Settings Function


Change font style, font size and page display by clicking the User Settings icon
located in the Top Menu Bar.

In the Settings window, users can change the font size, font style, line spaces, and
page margins. Users can also change the page display from single to double pages
and vice versa. If nothing needs to be changed, check the Keep the Original Style box.

3.9. External Services Links Functions


3.9.1. Search Web
If you need to acquire more information, or just need to research words/phrases
found on the reading contents, use the Search Web function to search on Google or
Wikipedia.
Drag the words/phrases to search with your mouse, and the Annotations menu will
pop up. Click the Search Web tab, and select the search engine. The search results
will be displayed through the internet browser.

3.9.2. Dictionary
Use the Dictionary function to look up definitions.
Drag the word with your mouse so the Annotation menu can pop up. Click the
Dictionary tab, and the e-Book Viewer will automatically link to WordReference.com,
and the definition will be displayed.

3.9.3. Share
You can share selections from the reading contents with others through SNS and
email.
Drag the area to share so the Annotation menu can pop up. Click the Share tab and
select the service you wish to use.
Account information is required to access Facebook and Twitter. Please register all
the required information before accessing.

3.10. Media Overlays


The eBook Viewers media controller will automatically activate if the reading
contents feature audio, such as narration and/or music.

Click the Play button to start the audio. The Start button will change to Pause button
once the audio plays.
The audio speed can be adjusted by clicking the arrows on both sides of the
Pause/Start button.
Click the Pause button to pause the Media Overlay, and click the Play buttons to
restart the Media Overlay.

Media Overlay is being played in the speed of 1x
Media Overlay is being played in the speed of 2x
Media Overlay is being played in the speed of .5x

The narrated part of the reading contents will be highlighted for user convenience.

Books featuring synchronized audio narration are found in mainstream e-books, educational tools and e-books formatted for
persons with print disabilities. In EPUB 3, these types of books are created by using Media Overlay Documents to describe the
timing for the pre-recorded audio narration and how it relates to the EPUB Content Document markup. The file format for Media
Overlays is defined as a subset of SMIL, a W3C recommendation for representing synchronized multimedia information in XML.
