Lesson Plan Maths - Ascending Descending Numbers

This 45-minute lesson plan teaches year 3 students about ascending and descending numbers. Students will count and order numbers up to 10,000 and demonstrate they can independently order numbers in ascending or descending order. The lesson begins with an introduction where the teacher writes mixed-up number sets on the board for students to order ascending and descending. Students then practice ordering more number sets in their textbooks. The conclusion has early finishers writing out number words. The teacher evaluates if students understood ascending vs descending ordering and if the lesson catered to varying abilities.
