also included to illustrate and teach each new skill. To further facilitate learning, sample solutions are given in
the back of the text for the first activity in each exercise set.

Grading Scale:
100-92% A
91-84% B
83-76% C
75-68% D
below 68% F

Student Evaluation:
You will be graded on your daily work, quizzes, and tests. Assignments and grades will be recorded on a
daily basis in campus.

Expectations and Procedures for academic work:

Home work:
The major academic purposes of homework are to help review and practice what you have learned along
with getting ready for the next day's class. It also encourages self discipline and responsibility. High
quality assignments with a purpose will be given on a daily basis. It is my expectation that you complete
all assignments on the day due.
Late work: Late work is accepted with the understanding that an 83% is the highest grade you will
receive.
Redo's: If concept of assignment is not reached, you will be required to re-do assignment in
order
for concept to be understood.
Make up work: If you are ill or absent, you will have two days to make up work. After that it will be
considered late.
Missing Assignments: You are required to complete all assignments. If assistance is needed to
complete, I am available from 8:00-8:30 and 2:00-3:30. After school study help is also available in the
library from 3:30-5:00.
Cheating: Cheating is defined as using someone else's words, work, and/or ideas and claiming them
as your own. Some examples would be:
1. Buying a paper or project (print version or online version).
2. Sharing computer files, worksheets
3. Copying homework.
4. Building on someone else's ideas without proper citations.
5. Turning in someone else's work.
6. Letting your partner in a project do all the work and putting your name on the final report.
7. Letting a parent or guardian complete an assignment or class project.
8. Looking at another's test.

9. Using small handheld computer devices to pull up information while taking a test, or to share
questions or answers.
10. Copying and pasting information found on the Internet into, for example, a word processing
document, without giving proper credit to the source.
If any of these should occur, a one on one consultation will take place along with a phone call to your
parents. Academic work intervention strategies will be used but know a zero may given as a grade.

Expectations for the Classroom:

1. Respect yourself, the teacher & others
Show respect for the teacher, yourself and others at all times.
Respect others property. Don't expect that others will clean-up your messes. Please pick-up after
yourself.
Respect yourself and the rest of us by using appropriate language and wearing appropriate clothing.
Respect all ideas given in class and do not criticize anybody's ideas or thoughts.
Be a kind person.
2.

Put forth your best effort at all times

Always do your own best work.
Put learning ahead of getting good grades.
Put quality ahead of just getting it done.

3.

Be prepared for class each day

Come prepared with all materials necessary:
1. An organized class binder containing all necessary materials and handouts
2. Looseleaf paper or notebook, pens (blue or black), and pencils
3. Highlighters for emphasizing important text
4. A planner to help keep you organized - the most successful students are organized.

4.

Follow directions when given

When directions are given, do your best to follow them the first time. If you are confused or have
questions, ask. I would rather have you stop class to clarify than be off task while everyone else is
working.

5.

Pay attention, participate and ask questions

Engage in what is going on in the classroom. If you have a question, ask it! Otherwise, I might not
know until the test that you didnt understand something. There are no stupid questions, and chances
are, if you are wondering about it, someone else in the class is to. Be proactive about your learning and
dont be afraid to ask for help. If you feel most comfortable waiting until after class, that is okay, too,
but do keep communication open between us.

6.

Preserve a positive learning environment

Minimize classroom interruptions by arriving to class on time and not leaving the classroom during the
block.

Class Rules:
1.

Turn off cell phones

Cell Phones should be turned off and invisible during the class period.
1St time: warning
2nd time: It will be placed on my desk for the remainder of the block
3rd time: It will be given to an administrator
Refusal to turn over the cell phone will be treated as insubordinate behavior.

2.

Food/Drink
Plastic beverage bottles with screw on caps are permitted in class.
Food is not permitted in class unless prior arrangements are made with me.

Arrive to class on time & ready to learn

When the bell rings, you need to be sitting in your assigned seat.
Be physically and mentally present in the classroom
Never line up at the door before dismissal

3.

4.

Use polite and appropriate language

Offensive, derogatory, and profane terms are not tolerated. In order to have a safe classroom
environment where all students feel comfortable, no put downs, swear words, or slang words with
demeaning connotations will be accepted.

5.

Laptop Use:
You will be using your computer in class for assignments on a daily basis. Please have it charged and
ready to go. For any inappropriate use (on a site other than instructed, games, email, etc) you will be
warned once. If it occurs again, your actions will be reported to the technical office and restrictions may
apply.

6. Tardiness:
Punctuality is an important habit to build. You will be tardy if you are not in the classroom when the bell
rings.
Upon 2nd and any additional tardies, detention will be assigned.
If you arrive more than 10 minutes late to class without a pass, the office will be notified.
7. Dress:
You are expected to dress with standards that enhance a learning environment. Profanity and suggestive
themes, such as alcohol, drugs, tobacco, sex, death, suicide, violence, or other dress that is provocative
or distracting to the learning environment (including hats), will not be permitted.

At the end of the day who you are is totally and completely up to
you. Dreams
don't work
unless you do!
