Course Title: Operations Management
Course Description:
Operations management is concerned with the creation and distribution of products
and /or services so as to satisfy customers. Clearly, this is the key for the existence of
any organization.
Operations management is the management of business processes to provide the right
products of the right quality and at the right time at the right cost to the right
customers. Intense global competition has made companies to realize operations
management as one of the sources for achieving competitive advantage. This course
has been designed considering these points in mind. The course provides a general
introduction and frameworks, to manage manufacturing and service operations
efficiently and effectively.
Course Objectives:
To describe how the operations functions can be used to create a strategic
competitive advantage for an organization.
To discuss the importance of quality management and the impact of ISO
standards.
To provide insight into some of the key decisions and techniques used in
providing goods and services.
