Purpose Lead DCS Commissioning Engineer performs DCS software and hardware commissioning for Steam Turbine,
Water steam cycle, Boiler, and all auxiliaries, controlling involved in monitoring and trouble shooting, systems tuning, in
a safe and reliable manner for the overall power plant..
He shall be familiar with Alspa, DCS and for closed loop tuning/modi cation and should have minimum 10 yrs of
experiecnce.
Responsibilities The Lead DCS Commissioning Engineer ensures monitoring, troubleshooting, tuning for :
DCS loop check, console graphic and Console Data base
DCS logic design and commission using function code
Closed loop controllers and PID control loops tunings
Binary input / output cards
Analog input / output cards
Calibrate instrument equipment including electric, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems such as :
1) Level measuring and control ( Level transmitters, Indicators, Switching, magnetic level indicators and magnetic level
switches
2) PLC. Smart transmitters, Inductive switches, shaft axial position indications
3) Pressure measuring and control : pressure transmitters, Indicators and switches also same for diff. pressure
4) Temp measuring and control loops ( PT100, Thermocouples)
5) Closed loop controllers and PID control loops
6) Pneumatic and electrical actuators
7) Turbine speeds measuring and control, Turbine vibration monitoring
I&C DCS Closed loop controllers and PID control loops tuning for large Steam power Plants
Steam Turbine / generator , auxiliaries, Boiler closed loop controllers and PID Control loops tuning
Function check for all equipment controlling from DCS which includes boiler feed pumps, TDBFP, CCW pumps, ACW,
STG, Fans, etc
Start up and commission the plant.
Tuning closed loops including auto change over for all equipments such as MDBFP, TDBFP, CEP, MCW, etc without
trippi9ng the unit.
Study, review and correct logic and hardware documentation (SAMA, PFUPs, Wiring Diagrams,)
Implement modi cation using engineering tools (Controcad)
Loop checks
Instrumentation setting and testing (Hart, protocol, )
Perform elementary tests, then functional and sequence tests
Tune and monitor both closed and open loop functions
Troubleshooting both hardware and software problems/incidents
Fill in test sheets and ITPLs and create reports
Inter-change with client and third parties
Familiar with ALSPA, and other industrial advanced control systems, PLCs, DCSs, motor controls, etc
Establish, develop and execute Site Acceptance Tests ( SAT)
Participate and assist factory testing on control panels (FAT) for TGC/DCS/Generator control panel.
Knowledge of software and hardware of numerous PLC based Control/Monitoring systems, ABB, Allen Bradley,
PC3000, etc
Knowledge in all instruments disciplines including Digital/Analogue Electronics, pneumatics, Hydraulics,a nd process
control, pressure, Temperature, Flow and level.
Conducting tests and repairs on plant instrumentation and control systems.
Provide technical supports for process commissioning engineer
Complete I/O Checks, instrument con guration and required documentation for project
Investigate and trouble shoot electrical control issues with the commissioning team
Participate in Hazop Studies, and providing support in the instrumentation for procurement and construction
activities.
Commission and trouble shoot conventional IO, Hart and eldbus Instruments loops.
The personnel assigned to him/her are fully acquainted with the site speci c rules, safety regulations and
environmental protection measures and that they perform their work accordingly.
All activities not identi ed in the standard or speci c commissioning procedures are carried out under PTW, according
the site regulations.
A performance feedback of all employees assigned to him/her is made to the COMM
Commissioning is performed in a safe and timely manner.
Ensure that the engineering department is involved in handling technical problems and decisions by arrangement with
the COMM
Ensure the commissioning, operation, quality record and feedback documentation are issued
Ensure that technical deviations are reported with a corresponding non-conformance report (NCR) and that the same
are followed up until their completion
Requirements Education & Trainings
Mandatory (MUST)
University degree or technical quali cation in Instrumentaion or related engineering related eld.
Desirable (NICE TO HAVE)
Bachelor / Master degree in engineering related eld

test certi cates)

Be familiar with Alspa, and other industrial advanced control systems, PLCs, DCSs, motor controls, Instrumentation
Knowledge in Digital systems architecture, digital logic and computer studies.
Knowledge in Electronics
Experience with steam steam turbines and generators controls and tuning closed loops
Proven experience in I & C work on Steam Turbines
Familiar with eld bus and HART communication Protocol.
Familiar with the hardware and software tools available for testing and diagnostics.
Strong dedication to reach the project objectives
Very good team spirit
Able to handle the pressure
