LIST OF ERROR DISPLAY / INDICATIONS

Errors and warnings are displayed by the following ways.
(1) Errors are indicated by the number of times the LED blinks
(2) Errors and warnings are displayed on the LCD viewer on the operation panel.
(3) Warnings are displayed on the printer drivers Status Monitor.

button, and re-connect the cable.

Press the Resume/Cancel button, and after

confirming the following, perform print head
alignment again;
Set an appropriate type and size of
paper (plain paper, A4 or letter).
Check that the nozzle check pattern is
properly printed (all ink ejected, no
faint printing)
Protect the paper output slot form
exposure to excessive light.
Close the cover

After setting a CD-R in the tray, set the way

in the feeder, and press the Resume/Cancel
button.
Pressing the Resume/Cancel button will exit
the cover, and enable printing.
In repair servicing, replace the bottom case
unit (QM2-1496), or the ink absorbers (QC14222/4223/4224/4263/4264/4864/4221/4257)

Press the Resume/Cancel button to eject the

paper the paper being used at error
occurrence. Printing will resume from on the
front side of the next page.

Occurs when the input voltage is 11.1 to 11.8 VDC. Normal voltage is 13VDC +2.5VDC 1.5VDC.

C 6 / Bk Blinks

Occurs when the cartridge is in the replacement mode for 5 minutes or longer.

Bk Blinks

Displayed when ink low warning function is enabled. Occurs when the calculated ink
consumption exceeds the maximum value in EEPROM. The cartridge may be out of ink.
Replace the ink cartridge and reset the ink low warning by pressing the MENU button
once.

Occurs when the "total waste ink amount" recorded by the EEPROM exceeds the
prescribed limit. Waste ink absorber pad may need to be replaced and the counter
needs to be reset.

Occurs when paper is not fed or ejected
properly.
Left side BJ cartridge failure or incompatible
BJ cartridge.
Right side BJ cartridge failure or incompatible
BJ cartridge.
The head temperature is too high. Let the
printer cool down for a while and then press
the RESUME button. A bad head is
possible.
The total waste ink amount recorded by the
EEPROM is approaching the specified limit.
The home position of the carriage cannot be
detected.
The head cleaning or capping detection at
the capping position is irregular.
The initial position of the pick-up roller cannot
be detected.
The temperature sensor's reading on the
logic board is irregular.
The total waste ink amount recorded by the
EEPROM has exceeded the specified limit.
The temperature in the BJ cartridge had
exceeded the specified limit. A bad printhead
is possible.
The sub-heater in the BJ cartridge is not
operating properly. A bad printhead is
possible.
The printer cannot detect the BJ cartridge. A
bad printhead is possible.
Occurs when the EEPROM checking function
fails during every process.

<Cause> When the CPU malfunctions due to an

unknown cause, the CPU makes illegal access and runs
aberrantly, resulting in a hardware error. In this case, as
the printer cannot continue operations, the printer is
powered off. When the printer is powered on the next
time, the error is displayed. Eg. One cause on this error
may be the head error.
