Case 2: The Army Crew Case

In doing your case analysis:


Refer to the handout a Guide To Case Analysis
Hand in one case analysis for your group with a title page including the case name, title page,
and names of the group members.
In the body of the case analysis, type each question followed by your response.
The case analysis should be a approximately five single spaced typed pages.
The Army Crew Team Case Questions
1. What are the critical features the Army Crew Team task? What does the task require the team
members to do?
2. A) Describe the key elements of the process that was used to set up the Varsity and the JV
crew teams? B) What was the impact of this process on the eventual members of the two crew
teams?
3. Why does the Varsity team lose to the JV team?
4. What could Coach P have done early in the season to reverse the process? Be specific?
5. What should Coach P do on Tuesday? Why do you recommend this action? How should he
implement this action? Be specific?
6. How would you compare the Army Crew team to other types of organizational teams? What
are the similarities and differences?
