Teacher's Notes: Creating A Test
Creating a Test
First, select the unit(s) you wish to test and
click on Create Test.
For listening tests, you can listen to the audio and view
the audioscripts from the exercise selection screen.
You can
upload your
schools
logo, which
displays in the
header of your
exported test.
If a test contains
a listening
section, this CD
icon appears
in the preview
screen. If you
click on this icon
you can listen to
all of the audio
in that test.
Content
You can monitor your students progress after every unit
using the progress tests and extra questions. A link to a
placement test is also provided for you to assess your
students level of English at the start of the course.
The progress tests provide exercises that check students
knowledge of the key language areas taught in the unit.
Some exercises and questions may also test students
knowledge of language taught in previous units.
The extra questions provide additional questions on the
same material.
For each level, the Testmaker includes 12 progress tests
and 12 sets of extra questions which both cover grammar,
vocabulary and Real World language at the same level of
challenge as the Students Book. The progress tests for
units 6 and 12 also include listening tests.
The progress test for unit 6 reviews items from units 15,
and the progress test for unit 12 reviews items from the
whole of the Students Book.
Placement test
In the content selection screen, a link is provided to the
face2face placement test. Use the placement test to test
your learners knowledge and give them the best possible
start. Covering key language areas from Starter through
to Advanced, youll find the written and oral placement
test easy to use and quick to mark.
Vocabulary
The vocabulary exercises cover the main lexical sets from
the Students Book.
Listening
The progress tests for units 6 and 12 include listening
tests. In these tests, students listen to a dialogue,
monologue or several speakers. They are tested on
their general understanding of, for example, the topics
discussed or the speakers attitudes. They may have to
choose from true/false statements, complete gapped
information or choose the correct answer from a selection
of answers. The Testmaker Audio CD, playable in a
normal CD player, contains the audio recordings for these
tests. They can also be played from the listening test
preview screen on the CD-ROM. Audioscripts can be
accessed from the exercise selection screen.
Real World
These exercises test the practical language students
need for day-to-day life covered in the corresponding
Real World activities in the Students Book.
