SCOPE
The specification covers the requirement of design, manufacturing, testing, packing and
supply of industrial type control stations and accessories suitable for installation in safe
outdoor areas.

The equipment shall comply with the requirements of latest revision of the following
standards issued by BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) unless otherwise specified.

In case of imported equipment, standards of the country of origin shall be applicable if


these standards are equivalent or more stringent than the applicable Indian standards.
The equipment shall also confirm to the previous of Indian Electricity Rules and other
statutory regulations currently in force in the country.
In case Indian standards are not available for any equipment, standard issued by IEC/ BS/
VDF/ IEEE/ NEMA OR EQUIVALENT AGENCY shall be applicable.
In case of any contradiction between various referred standards /specification /data
sheets and statutory regulation, the following order of priority shall govern.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The offered equipment shall be brand new with state of the art technology and proven
field track record. No prototype equipment shall be offered.
Vendor shall ensure availability of spare parts and maintenance support services for the
offered equipment for at least 10 years from the date of supply.
SITE CONDITIONS
The equipment shall be suitable for installation and satisfactory operation in tropical,
humid and corrosive atmosphere as material handling plant unless otherwise specified, a
design ambient temperature of 40C and an altitude not exceeding 1000m above sea level
shall be considered.


5.0
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

5.1
Construction

5.1.1 The Enclosure of the control station shall be made of Cast aluminium (LM6) construction,

dust and vermin proof, wall/ structure mounting.



5.1.2 The control stations shall be suitable for use in outdoor open locations and shall have IP
65 degree of protection. They shall preferably be provided with integral canopy. However,
where the enclosure has been certified without integral canopy, a separate canopy can be
accepted. The separate canopy shall be made of a least 14swg (2mm) galvanised sheet
steel or FRP. The canopy shall be suitable for providing protection against rain from top
and two sides.

5.1.3 Unless otherwise specified, all control station shall be suitable for 110V AC control supply.

5.1.4 The control station shall be provided with neoprene gaskets.

5.1.5 The enclosures shall be treated and prepared for painting with two coats of epoxy pain
with final colour shade(both internal and external) as dark admiralty gray shad 632 of IS
5.

5.1.6 All accessories like nuts, bolts, washer, tec. Shall be made of stainless steel SS304.

5.1.7 The control station shall be provided with two earthing studs with lugs on the external
surface of the enclosures suitable for termination of 8swg GI wire.

5.1.8 The control stations shall be provided with undrilled gland plate. However, double
compression nickelplated brass cable gland shall be supplied loose to suit the specified
cable sizes.

5.1.9 The control stations shall have external fixing lugs for mounting on wall or column. The
holes provided on these lugs shall be of oblong type.

5.1.10 A name plate indicating TAG NO. shall be provided on each control station. The
nameplates shall be engraved on 3 ply black white black lamicold sheets using square
cutters. Black engraved Perspex sheet nameplate shall also be acceptable. Nameplates
shall be fixed by screws and shall not be pasted. (Tag list as attached with Enquiry
requisition).

5.2
Component Specification.

5.2.1 Push buttons for START and STOP shall be of GREEN and RED colour respectively. Unless
otherwise specified, each push button shall have one normally open (NO) and one
normally close (NC) contact. The START/STOP Push button shall have Flush mounted
type.

5.2.2 Emergency Stop push button to be stay put type with mushroom head press to lock and
Twist to unlock type. Emergency stop push button hard wired to MCC / HT switchgear.
5.2.3 All control switches shall be provided Keyoperated selector switch, twoposition
maintained. Wherever specified, Shall have three positions (LOCAL O REMOTE) With
spring return to Zero (O) position from Local position and stay put in Remote position.
Unless otherwise specified, all selector switches shall have minimum two poles for each

position. Each position of switch shall be indelibly marked on the control station Selector
Switches shall have spare contacts.


5.2.4 All ammeters shall be of moving iron type having an accuracy class of 3 and suitable for 1
ampere CT secondary. Unless otherwise specified, minimum size of ammeter shall either
be 72mm x 72mm or maximum 92 x 92mm dia. 80% of the scale length shall be cover
100% of the CT primary current uniformly and the balance 20% of the scale shall cover
100600% of the CT primary. A red marked corresponding to the full load current of the
motor shall be provided on the ammeter dial. The ammeter front glass shall be toughened.

5.2.5 All ammeter shall be digital type (For above 30kw motor). Motor starters shall be
provided with suitable dual (420mA) output transducers connected to the secondary of
the current transformer in respective panels / modules for push button station ammeters.

5.2.4 All push button and control switch contacts shall be rated for min. 5 amps at 240V AC15
and 2 Amp at 110V DC13 duty.

5.2.5 Indicating lamp(s), wherever provided, shall be clustered LED type (with minimum 3 nos.
LEDs, preferably connected in parallel), mounted inside an enclosure of minimum
diameter of 15mm.

5.3
Terminal & Wiring

5.3.1 The control stations shall be provided with required number of terminals with 20% spare
terminals. More than 2 wires per terminal shall not be permitted. If required, additional
terminal with shorting link may be used. Each terminal for external cable connection shall
be suitable for termination of 2.5sqmm solid copper conductor. In case lugs are required
for cable termination, tinned copper type lugs shall be provided.

5.3.2 All internal wiring shall employ 2.5Sqmm 660V grade, PVC insulated copper conductor
wires.



5.4
LCS shall be provided with minimum following devices:

5.4.1 For DOL drives:
Local / Remote selector switch, STOP, EMERGENCY STOP and START pushbuttons, LED
lamps (local permissive, status etc.), Digital Ammeter (for above 30KW or VFD controlled
LT motors) For VFD controlled motors additional devices (i.e. lamps, push buttons
switches, meters etc.) as indicated under TS for VFD shall also be provided.

5.4.2 For RDOL drives:
FORWARD/REVERSE, STOP and EMERGENCY STOP pushbuttons, LED lamps (local
permissive, status etc.), Digital Ammeter (for above 30KW or VFD controlled LT motors)
For VFD controlled motors additional devices (i.e. lamps, push buttons switches, meters
etc.) as indicated under TS for VFD shall also be provided.

INSPECTION, TESTING AND ACCEPTANCE

During fabrication, the equipment shall be subjected to inspection by end customer or by


customer consultant or by an agency authorized by the customer (Third party), if
specified/agreed in Inspection Test Plan. Manufacturer shall furnished all necessary
information concerning the supply to Inspector. All routine/acceptance test shall be
carried out at manufacturers work under his care and expense.
Test certificates of bought out components shall be shown to the inspection agency on
demand during inspection.
All equipments shall be subjected to various acceptance test as per standards but not
limited to the following:
General visual inspection.
Dimensional inspection.
Verification of mechanical and electrical operations.
Dielectric test.
Any other routine and acceptance test as per applicable standards.

Drawings / Documents to be furnished for APPROVAL:



1. General arrangement and dimensional drawing of equipment including weight,
fixing details.

2. Complete technical data sheet of the equipment

3. Wiring diagram of equipment


4. Painting and constructional details.


5. Quality control plan.

6. All above drawings and documents shall be submitted in triplicate within 15 days
of placement of LOI.

7. All equipment shall be manufactured as per approved drawings only.

8. The supplier should also submit any other drawing/documents, as and when
required by the customer, for better understanding of the equipment to be supplied
by them.

9.

Moreover, following drawings / documents should be furnished within 15 days of


Inspection:

All the equipment shall be divided into several sections for protection and ease of
handling during transportation. The equipment shall be properly packed for
transportation by ship/ rail or trailer. It shall be wrapped in polythene sheets placed in
crates/ cases to prevent damage to finish. The rates/ cases shall have skid bottoms for
handling. Special notations such as Fragile, This side up, Center of gravity, Weight,
Owners particulars, PO Nos. Etc., shall be clearly and indelibly marked on the packages
together with other details as per purchase order.
The equipment may be stored in covered shed for long periods before installation. The
packing shall be completely suitable for such storage.
