Windows 7 Wireless Setup Guide

Go to the Start menu > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing.
Click on Manage wireless networks
Click Add
Select Manually create a network profile
Enter sws for the Network Name
Enter WPA2 Enterprise for Security
type
Enter AES for the encryption type
Click Next

Select Change connection settings


Check Connect automatically when
this network is within range
Click OK

Select Advanced Settings


Check Specify authentication mode:
Click OK
Click Settings

Deselect Validate server certification


Click Configure

Deselect Automatically use my


Windows logon name and password
(and domain if any)
Click OK

Download and run proxy fix from ITS


software site.

Connecting to the wireless network


Once you have successfully configured the above settings you should see the following popup when the wireless network is in
range.

Click in the center of the bubble


(not the "X") to enter your
credentials.

In the credentials box enter your


Username, Password and Student
for Logon domain, click OK.
You should now be able to use the
Secure Wireless Network

Please do not hesitate to seek further assistance from the student helpdesk at the CELT building or at the
helpdesk at the ICT building, ground floor.
