Lesson Plan in Physics

The lesson plan aims to teach students about work by having them: 1) Define work, identify the force doing work, and calculate work done in various situations; 2) Learn about the topic of work through examples showing how work is done and identifying situations where work occurs; 3) Generalize that work is done when a force applied to an object causes displacement in the direction of the force, and that work can be calculated using the formula W=Fxd. Students will then evaluate their understanding by identifying situations where work is done and solving a work problem. For homework, students are asked to research the definition of energy and its different forms.

LESSON PLAN IN PHYSICS

SCIENCE 8
I.

OBJECTIVES
a. Define Work
b. Identify the force that does the work
c. Calculate the work done by a force in various situations.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

a. Topic: WORK
b. Reference: Science Module Grade 8 & Science @ Work
III. LEARNING TASK
1. Motivation:
Ask the students, whats the first thing come to their mind when they hear
the word WORK.
2. LESSON PROPER
The teacher show example on how work is done
The students will identify if there is work (Picture analysis)
The teacher will explain the principle involve on the situations theres
work done in an object and also in determining the amount of work
done.
IV. GENERALIZATION
When do we say that work is done on an object?

When a force (F) applied to the object causes the object to have a displacement (d)

in the same direction as the force is applied

What is the formula for Work?

W=Fxd
What is the unit for Work?

Joules ( J )

V.

EVALUATION

A. Put a check ( ) before the item if work is done to an object or person.

_______a. a boy running across a playground. ( )
_______b. a boy pushing a wall.
_______c. a basket being lifted. ( )
_______d. a girl pulling pushcart. ( )
_______e. a big box being dragged across the floor. ( )

B. Answer the problem about WORK DONE? Show your Solution (5pts)
A boy pushes a cart with a force of 35 Newton through a distance of 8 meters
find the work done by the boy?

SOLUTION:
Formula :
Asked: Find the work done by the boy? (Work)
Given: F = 35 Newton
d = 8 meters
Formula: W = F x d
= (35 Newton) ( 8 meters)
W = 280 N/m or 280 joules

VI. Assignment:
1. What is ENERGY?
2. What are the different forms of ENERGY?
