Are you applying for other jobs ?

Of course, I am looking for the best place to apply my abilities, and so far this place
looked excellent.

just reply them staright forward that yes , if someone else gave u chance then u will
surely leave this company. and make them assure that u r looking for a carrer not just
for a job, and if the current company provide me that opportunity then i will give me
100% to the company.

"Tell Me About YourSelf"

You should prepare 2 answers - 1 short answer and 1 detailed answer.

And you should always tell the short one (2 to 3 minutes).
Then if the interviewer asks again, then you can extend that introduction to more
details.
But ideally, no interviewer wants a long answer.

Just start with your name, native place, education details, professional experience (if
any), current project (if any), certifications (if any), awards (if any).

I personally think there is no need to expalin in detail about your family members (your
brothers, sisters...) and what they are doing. You should avoid such irrelevant details
unless specifically asked by interviewer.

And avoid stupid sentences like - 'I am very honest', 'I am very hardworking', 'I am very
intelligent' ...

Don't tell hobbies like 'Watching Movies', 'Watching TV'...etc.

I think it's not necessary to tell hobbies during Self introduction. If they ask specifically,
then be very careful in answering.
If you simply tell 'Reading Books', then they will ask 'What book you read recently and
explain the story'.
You may be in trouble if you are not knowledgeable about that.

How good are you at innovation ?

You have to answer 'Yes, based on my past experiences, I think I am reasonably

good at innovation'.

Then interviewer asks why do you think you are innovative.

Then you should be ready to provide some examples.

'Innovation' means a new way of doing something, or creative thinking.

If you are experienced professional, you need to explain a project situation where you
have used your innovation to impress the clients / colleagues.

If you are a fresher, you need to explain a real-life situation (or academic situation)
where you have used your innovation to impress the other people. May be, you can
explain a problem during your academic project, and how you have come up with an
innovative idea (or method) to solve that problem.
How many interviews have you attended till now and what were the reasons for
the failure ?

There is no need to say that you have attended many interviews and you have not got
any jobs yet, just say one or two and
tell reasons like they asked you sign 3 lakh bond ,etc , or night shift , weekend counted
in project plan.

Tell me about your weakness,

You can also tell this.

"I sometimes overtrust people, and get into unnecessary trouble...."

Note: If you tell the above, you should also cook a nice example story about how you
trusted someone in the past and landed in trouble.

I almost always told this below answer in my interviews. And I never faced any trouble
from HR after telling this answer. (Mind you, I attended around 20 interviews.) It all
depends on how convincingly you convey the answer. You can tell so many weaknesses.
But you should always convey what you are doing to overcome that weakness.

I cannot say 'NO' easily to people even when required. I feel that's my biggest
weakness. It land me in trouble few times. For example, if my collegue or
friends asks me for help, sometimes I end up doing their work instead of my
work. Since it affects my work schedule sometimes, I am nowadays learning to
say 'NO'. I still help people when absolutely required, but I am telling 'NO'
when I have my important work to complete.

I've been told a few times I'm too much detail oriented. I do make it a practice of
checking my work at least once or twice to make sure that it's absolutely accurate.

What to say when HR asked about strength

Highlighting strengths and accomplishments: Use specific examples to highlight your

accomplishments -- explicit numbers, results and outcomes. Generic words are
meaningless unless backed by data.

For example, instead of using the word 'significant' , use a number or percentage
instead.

Strengths that interviewers are looking for include:

. Committed: Talk about the times you may have sacrificed a vacation to complete an
important project.

.
. Curious: Show how curiosity has served you well in the last job. For example, when
was the last time you knew there had to be a better way of performing a task, closing a
particular deal or making a sale to a difficult client? How did your questioning of the
situation find a solution?

.I am a hard worker and because of this ability I can work for additional hours to
accomplish my tasks.I am commitment oriented and hence I always enjoy the trust and
confidence of my team mates
I can handle any type of people and situations and also bring out the best from them in
spite of conflicting situations or opinions.

Do you Prefer to work alone or as a Team member ?

Your answers can be:

I like working myself. But I love working in a team because one thing is for sure -
gaining and sharing knowledge through experience. It is always said “Two heads are
better than one”. Working as an individual, I can apply all that I have learned
throughout the career. So I believe both have their importance and both are required to
be successful in any field.

What are your short term goals ?

Short term goal depends upon where you stand right now. A person with 5 years of
experience will have different short term goals than a person with no work experience.

Your answers can be:

My short term goal is to find a position of software developer in your esteemed

organization where I can use the Knowledge and Strength whice I have and enhanced
learning .I shall be able to make valuable and meaningful contribution to your
organization.

OR

17. What are your short-term and long-term goals in life after 5/10/30 years?

A. My Short Term Goals are:

To get a good job.

To make a pact of software professionals in a form of an organization in order to

educate and train students especially in Govt schools about the recruitment
processes of companies and how they should prepare for it from elementary school
level itself.

To work as a part-time training staff member of Special Training Program.

My Long Term Goals are:

To become an absolute professional.

To establish national and international contacts.

To establish educational institutions.

Why should we hire you ?,

There are two reasons I should be hired. Firstly, my qualifications match your needs
perfectly. Secondly I’m excited and passionate about this industry and the position and
will always give my 100%.

OR

I believe that I do possess these qualities and traits. And these qualities have played
major role in the successful growth of companies. Moreover, after getting into a
company, I feel that I can improve these qualities in much better way.

OR

You should hire me because I’m the best person for the job. I realize that there are likely
other candidates who also have the ability to do this job. Yet I bring an additional quality
that makes me the best person for the job - my passion for excellence. I am
passionately committed to producing truly class results.

If you are given an opportunity to work in our organisation, how long will you
stick ?

As long as we both feel that i am doing a good job

16. What are the 5 reasons, why you want to join our company only?

A. Good career growth

Chances of further studies

Good opportunities of learning cutting-edge technologies.

Obviously, good pay-package and perks.

What do you know about our company ?

Your can say:

1) This company is the leader in delivering IT Solutions. It’s a global company in 18

different countries, and finally it’s one of the best companies to work for.

2) I learned that this Company has a great work environment and is an employee
oriented. It’s a place where strong contributors are rewarded. I want to work for a
company with opportunities and I know this company will definitely provide me.

Can you work under pressure ?

I work well under pressure because I don’t panic. I use the pressure to help me work
more efficiently. I maintain self control and work as efficiently as possible. At times, I try
to prioritize and plan as much as I can.
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now ?

Some answers are:

In five years, I want to be a senior analyst (Senior Software Engineer/Manager/Lead). I
want to expertise to directly impact the company in a positive way.

How do you evaluate success ?

If my contribution has positively benefited my company, then that’s “Success” for me.
From the personal front, success to me is fulfilling my parents dream.

What is more important to you : Money or Work ?

For me, both are equally important. Everyone needs money for living and
almost everyone works for money. I am no exception.
However I will be ready to adjust on money factor if I can get the challenging
work where I will have the job satisfaction by fulfilling the challenges.

What motivates you to do your best on the job ?

I was motivated both by the challenge of finishing the projects on time and by managing
the teams that achieved our goals.

- I want to be successful in my job, both for my own personal satisfaction and for my
employer.

- I've always felt that it's important, both to me personally, and for the company and the
clients, to provide a positive customer experience.

Describe an ideal job

I would like to work in a fun, warm environment with individuals working independently
towards team goals. I am not concerned about minor elements like dress code and level
of formality. Most important is the atmosphere that leads to the attention of quality,
honesty and integrity.

Do you have any questions for us ?

Here are few I can think of. You may reply with more questions you know.

- Can you please describe the work environment here ? Is it flexible ?

- Can you tell me more about my job responsibilities - assuming that I get selected ?
- How soon you expect me to join ?
- Is there anything else you need to know concerning my ability to do this job ?
- Do you want me to update / refresh any of my skills so that I will be a better match for
this job ?
- What major challenges you are facing right now in this position you are offering me ?

Whatever questions you ask the HR, just remember :-

- Never ask too many questions about Onsite opportunities, unless you have multiple
offers on hand and only interested in Onsite opportunities. That gives a negative
impression that you may leave the company in future if Onsite is not provided. So they
will become very choosy in selecting you for the job.
- Don't stress too much on pay package. You can ask 1 or 2 questions, but don't sound
as if you are not going to join unless they offer you very high package. Again the
exception here is that you can demand high salary if you already have other good offers.
- Never talk anything bad about your current company or your colleagues (even if they
are really bad). That gives a negative impression on your character.

What is your philosophy towards work ?

Don't give long explanation. Just tell in one sentence...

I think answers like below may give you an example :

- My philosophy is, no matter what personal interests people may have, it's ultimately
important that work should get completed on time. People in a project can be from
different backgrounds and interests, but everyone should work together towards a
common goal of getting the work done on time.

- My philosophy is, 'Value addition' to the work given by customer is important. Just
finishing the given work can be done by anyone. We should always think how to add
more value that benefits the customer.

What were the toughest situations you faced, how you could tackle them?

A. I was working on a project along with my friend who usually takes projects on
personal basis. He dealt with the designing part and I took the technical part. We
worked day-in and day-out for 15 days, but we couldn't make it up. And the client
pressure was really embarrassing. That was the situation I feel was the toughest
one.

Who is your favorite personality and why? What are his 3 setbacks?

My favorite personality is my English master 'Sir. Imran Al-Khulaqi'. I try to follow and
pursue his footsteps since he is very hard working and friendly with his work and staff
and others .I admire him, I consider him to be my role-model.

14. What is your favorite book and why?

A. I didn't have the habit of reading general books, but after getting into Special
Training Program, I have read 4 books; 'You Can Win' by Shiv Khera, 'How to Win
Friends and Influence People' by Dale Carnegie, 'The Present' by Spencer Johnson,
and 'The Women' by Dr. KVSG Murali Krishna.
Among these, my favorite one is 'You Can Win' by Shiv Khera which I have read 2
times. I like this book because of its simple usage of language. Moreover, the
messages given in the book have long known to me, since I have been taught
religiously the same.

19. What is your contribution to the world or society so far?

A. Well, I don't think that I can contribute to this mighty world since I am just a naive.
I am proud of some of the contributions made by me. There is an organization called
as 'Ancient Message Center' at Moula Ali, Secunderabad, which works hard to fight
the social evils of the society like consumption of alcohol, gambling, spreading of
AIDS, etc. with a bit of spirituality. They asked me to make a video film of their
activities conducted so far in English as well as in Urdu. And I made a 16 minutes
video with my voice over video explaining all their social activities.

Besides it, I was offered to take English Grammar classes at Special Training
Program by our Program Manager. And I am really proud of it that I have got 10
really dedicated students cum friends out of 100.

21. How life and IT would be after 20 years?

A. I imagine life after 20 years as life without worries. I mean to say people can save
time more than they save now. With the emergence of IT industries, world is
dynamically changing its face. I think there would be typical softwares which will
make man travel greater distances. For example, a person is working in his office
and at the same time important relatives visit his house. Instead of going home, he
can make use of a software which will transmit his entire virtual body and actions to
his house, with which he will be present at both places. There would be such
software which will detect the possible chemistry going on in a human mind.

I wish life will be pleasant and beautiful rather terrifying.

22. What are your biggest accomplishments so far?

A. The biggest accomplishment so far is completion of my engineering without any

single backlog. Would-be accomplishment: Getting a good job.

23. Why you didn't get any job so far?

A. Well, I kept trying for many companies, but the main ordeal was failure to clear
written test. Special Training Program turned out to me an Aladdin's cave, where I
learnt aptitude, soft-skills and technical skills. And I am pretty much sure that I will
get selected.

24. Tell me something you did or you failed to do and now you are ashamed of?
A. Well, I don't remember any such incident of my life. Anyways, humans are bound
to make mistakes.

The thing which I really regret for is, in my engineering I did not participate in sports
activities. Many of my friends were the members of Deccan Sports Club in Judo,
Body Building, Cricket, Volley Ball, etc. and they kept insisting me to join them, but I
never paid heed to their words since I was worried about my studies. That is the only
thing I regret for.

25. Would you lie for a company?

A. Well, I have a set of ethical values which I cannot go against. But, I have been
taught since childhood that if a lie can unite two separated bodies or if a lie can save
a dying life then it is permissible. So in the company, if the lie is for fixing a matter
between a boss and his sub-ordinate, or to hide the confidential matters of company
then I may lie.

26. Looking back, if you are not an Engineer, what you want to be?

A. If I were not an Engineer, I would be a Matchmaker. This may sound absurd and
ridiculous, but I like doing this job. Since this job involves making connection
between two families, it is the greatest job in my view.

27. What are Soft-Skills, why are they so important in IT field?

A. Literally speaking, non-Hard skills are called Soft-Skills.

Soft-Skills transform a boy into a man. I mean to say an amateur being to a mature
personality. It teaches us behave professionally. In an IT firm, where professionalism
does matter, Soft-Skills play vital role.

30. How do you define Success? What is Success for you?

A. Well, there are many ways to define Success.

And my definition is: Success is satisfaction which you get after contributing
something which is even equivalent to an atom from your side to society, owing to
that you have sound sleep.

33. What is the difference between Leader and Manager? And how about

you?

A. The differences which I feel are:

Leaders can be spiritual, political or

at corporate level.
Managers are purely at

corporate level.

Leaders move with their followers. Managers manage the teams.

Leaders initiate, implement and

demonstrate an idea.

Managers too initiate an idea,

but the implementation depends

on sub-ordinates.

Leaders are elected by People. Managers are appointed over

employees.

Leaders influence hearts and minds. Managers are purely workoriented.

34. Who is a Smart Worker? Do you prefer him or her?

A. Hard worker works hard to achieve a stage. Smart worker works smartly to
achieve the same stage.

Let me give a mythical example, according to a Hindu mythology Kumaraswamy

brother of Ganesha and Ganesha himself had competition to have the tour of
Universe. The one who completes first is the winner, Kumaraswamy had his tour
done on a peacock, but Ganesha considered his parents to be Universe and made a
circumambulation of them and won the competition.

God speaks about smart work in Quran: King Solomon had djinns and men working
under his command. One day, he made an order to get the throne from far away
distance. Djinn went flying to get it, but a wise person invoked God to help him get it.
And within no time, he got it done.

Apparently, I like and try to be Smart-Worker.

35. What principles do you follow regarding time management?

A. I follow the elementary principles, which have been taught to us since childhood.

'Early to bed and early to rise makes you healthy, wealthy and wise'.

Our professor Sir. Murali Krishna says: 'All Great Leaders are Early Risers.'
41. What are your free time activities or hobbies?

A. My free time activities are get together parties, public speaking, watching
inspirational English movies to improve communication skills, browsing the net to get
latest cell phone softwares and obviously netting http://www.youtube.com. I like and
desire to make mini-video films like I have made some and those are present on
http://www.youtube.com. I like to make it with my voice over it (Video Narration).

42. Tell me about your favorite movie?

A. My favorite movie is 'Pursuit of Happyness' starring Will Smith, this movie is

based on the true life story of Chris Gardner, the world's top stock exchange broker.

In a nutshell, this movie shows his struggle to reach happiness. His wife deserts him
due to his unemployment. He has no house to live in. He has got only 21$ in his
account with which he and his son have to survive.

To stay up the nights, he goes to johns of railway stations and charitable trusts for
homeless, everyday. He undergoes 6 months training without salary and when he
finally gets job, he cannot contain himself.

I feel myself in his shoes, since we have undergone 6 months of training at Special
Training Program without having paid, but we are fortunate enough to get free
hostel, food and basic amenities.

46. What are your social responsibilities?

A. I feel my social responsibilities are to establish an organization for the

upliftment of government school students. Share whatever I posses in terms
of knowledge with my colleagues, friends and the way-farer.

48. If you have an option to join any of the 10 centers which would you join?

A. I would like to join the center at Mysore; I think I can work more efficiently
being away from home, this has been my experience for the past 6 months at
Special Training Program. Moreover, I get chance to learn new culture, new
tradition and new language.

49. If we do not select you, how will you feel?

A. Well, as a human being, I may feel remorse for the low performance. But I
will try to mend my handicaps and limitations to make it better, so that next
time I shall perform well.

50. Do you have anything to ask?

A. Well, after my selection what training I will be put in?

We were given study material designed by Infosys Technologies; will we be

given same at training?

Whom should I inform to after getting selected?

After selection if employer ask, what salary do you expect, how to

judge the maximum amount which he agree?

Then stop thinking about money, look at the experience they are offering.
