The document discusses a study skills journal entry about a class on learning styles. The class covered different learning style models proposed by theorists like David Kolb, Peter Honey, Alan Mumford, Anthony Greogorc, and NASSAP. Kolb's model identified four distinct learning styles - concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation - and four types of learners: diverging, assimilating, converging, and accommodating. Honey and Mumford adapted Kolb's model to align with managerial experiences and identified four styles: activist, reflector, theorist, and pragmatist. Anthony Greogorc organized a model describing cognitive, affective and physiological categories. The student learned about

Journal (Study Skills)

This week we did not start with the word and the quote of the week but
our word was sarcasm that means the use of remarks that clearly
mean the opposite of what they say, made in order to hurt someones
feeling or to criticize something in a humorous way. An example of it
could be you have been working hard he said with heavy sarcasm, as
he looked the empty.
Our quote of the week was In the end, its not the years in your life that
count, its the life in your years
-Abraham Lincoln
We started the class with a new topic about Learning Styles this is range
of competing and contested theories that aim to account for differences
in individuals learning. These theories propose that all people can be
classified according to their style of learning.
The teacher talk about different people with a learning style model like
David A. Kolb, Peter Honey, Alan Mumford, Anthony Greogorc and
NASSAP also.
David A. Kolb was an American educational theorist whose interests and
publications focus on experimental learning. His learning theory sets out
four distinct learning styles which are based on a four stage learning
cycle:
-concrete experience
-reflective observation
-abstract conceptualization
-active experimentation

Four type definition of learning styles

-Diverging
-assimilating
-converging
-accommodating

Peter Honey and Alan Mumford adapted Kolbs experimental learning

model, first the renamed the stages in the learning cycle to accord with

a managerial experiences: having an experience, reviewing an

experience, concluding the experience and planning the next steps.
Second they aligned these stages to four language style named: activist,
reflector, theorist and pragmatist.
The learning modalities were:
Visual learning
Authority learning
Read write learning
Kinesthetic learning
Anthony Greogorc and Kathleen Butler organize a model describing
different learning styles rooted in the way individuals acquire and
process information differently.
The last one was the NASSAP (National Association of Secondary
Principals) their model formed a task to study learning styles. The task
force defined three broad categories of style: cognitive, affective and
physiological.
In this class I learned what is a learning style and different important
people who were involved and that had models about them.
