Estimated time : 50 minutes
Aim : - the students will use the English language to communicate orally and in
writing about fun time activities
Lesson aims :
- SWBAT use words that describe fun time activities in sentences of their own
- SWBAT use the modal verb must in new context
Skills : speaking, reading, writing, listening
Strategies : whole class, group work, individual work, conversation, explanation,
example, exercise, didactic method Diamond
Audio-visual : overhead projector, laptop, pictures, blackboard and chalk, students
notebooks, handbooks, worksheets , dictionary.
Assumptions : - the students are familiar with most of the lexis involved
- the students already know modal verbs mayand can
Possible problems: - the students may not know how to ask correct questions; pairwork can solve this problem, or the teacher may have to help
- some of the students may have problems in solving the tasks
Activity 1 : Warm-up
Aims: - to introduce the students into the atmosphere of the lesson
- to attract students attention on the topic
The teacher greets the class and the students greet back. The teacher asks if anyone is
missing and the student on duty name them if it is necessary.
Homework verification.
The teacher shows a picture the first in a series and asks a student to say what he
sees in that picture. The student complies . On a piece of paper on flipchart there are
some words that describe activities. They must choose the words that are matching
with the activities from the pictures and make complete sentences. ( Where are the
children?, What are they doing?)

After that every student will extract from a picnic basket a note with a word written
on. They will use it in the next activity.

Activity 2 : Listening
Aim: - to develop students ability to listen to and extract information from a text
T will use an overhead projector to show Ss the text for another activity. The teacher
will read the text aloud and the students must raise their hand when they will hear
the word on their notes. After the reading, they will discover a new word must in
the text. T shows Ss some sentences with this word. They write the word and the
exemples in their notebooks, translate them and try to make an example of their own
with the new word.

Activity 3 : Quizz
Aims: - to assess comprehension
- to practice the new vocabulary in context
Procedure
The students will extract other notes from the picnic basket. The teacher makes groups of five
children. The notes that are extracted from the basket are numbered. First group will be
formed by 1 to 5, the second group will contain the notes from 6 to 10, and the third group
will be formed by 11 to 15. The teacher explains the rules of the quizz. Every child will read
and solve his task. Then they will interact with their team to be sure of the answers. If a child
is not sure of the answer, he can ask the rest of the team. The tasks are sentences with
multiple choices, a problem-sentence that provides three answers and only one is correct.
They will have 5 to solve their tasks. Individuals from each team must read the correct
sentence in order. The other children judge if they are correct. They will get 1 point for their
team if the answer is OK. The team with more points is winning.

Activity 4 : Diamond worksheet
Aim: - to get feedback on the comprehension of the text

The students will get worksheets. They solve the items, then they will change the woksheet
with their colleague (peer evaluation). The teacher will show them the ansewers and they
will correct them if it is necessary. They will mark the answers.

Activity 5 : Preparation for homework assignment
Aim: - to encourage Ss to use their imagination, creativity and knowledge about the topic
The teacher gives instructions for the homework assignment ( Ex. 5, 6 page no.73). The
teacher gives awards to the students who have done well and encourage the others.
