AFTER DARKNES, COMES A BRIGHT DAYS

OUTSIDE THE HOUSE DAY 1

A taxi is arriving Johns house, John opens the car and
picks out three bags from the taxi, Jessica and his eight
old years daughter come out and John welcomes them to his
house.
INSIDE THE HOUSE DAY 1
Through the window Irene sees the car and her father and his
new wife getting out the car. Irene runs quickly to open the
door.
Jessica eyes meet with Irene as she opens the door
JESSICA
Waoooh Irene are you alright?
IRENE
Im fine Mum welcome home, how was
the trip? nice to see you home
mummy.

Irene drag bags to her parents room and come down
INSIDE THE HOUSE DAY 1 O.S
John welcomes her wife home as they walk to their bed room
and change to nightwear and go downstairs for dinner.
INSIDE THE HOUSE DAY 1
Irene preparing the table for dinner. John, Jessica and the
young girl sit in the lounge waiting for Irene to invite
them on table.
As their eating Mr John went back to his bedroom and Jessica
use that time to intimidate Irene in regard to the food.

cooking when she is in primary

After dinner they were all happy sitting in the lounge
having simple chat before they go to bed.
As they go to their bedroom Jessica call Irene in the

JESSICA
before you go to bed make sure you
clean dishes and tide up everything
in the kitchen. Okay?

IRENE WALKING TO HER BED ROOM

Seems very much exited, she was now
happy talking to her self "for good
sake my life will be normal again
as long as mother is in the house,
she will plan what to eat and help
me to shop for my needs because I
was feeling shy to ask money direct
from my dad. Irene switches off the
light and sleeps.
INSIDE THE HOUSE DAY 2 MORNING
Jessica knocking Irene door it was now 5:30 I told you to
wake up eary Irene and still your in bed, wake up please!!
In shock Irene take off her duvee and run to the door direct
to the bathroom to wash her face and brush teeth then she go
downstairs for cleaness and breakfast preparation. After two
hours Jessica comes out of her room direct to table and
found that Irene prepared breakfast already.
JESSICA
Ooh dear you have done such a good
work! Thanks you.
As I wake up I see her arleady wake
up and continue with cleaning i was

Irene cant sleep to late unless
she is not well
John seems in hurry to go to work because he was supposed to
report after finishing his annual holiday. After finishing
his breakfast he stand up and go.

date and porridge is disgusting my
husband did not like it. And let me

JESSICA

want you to do is to clean up I
want to see the table shining by
the time I come back. And I see you
speaking with my husband as we seat
on table I dont want that. I can
see some spot on the floor how can
you be with your own husband if you
cant even manage to clean house?

can make your own money instead of

Im not yet start appliying for job

JESSICA

IRENE

JESSICA
No your dady is looking for money
to pay rent and other stuff for
family.
IRENE
I,m not sure if I can found a job
in a short period of time like that
JESSICA
Let me tell you darling, life is
too hard no money to waste. You can
have two pound left in the kitchen.

In a sorrowful motion, Irene stands up and start walking to
her bed room,

INSIDE THE HOUSE EVENING DAY 2

John is back from work having a shower and join the family
for dinner after that they all go to their bedroom for night
rest.
A WEEK AFTER
John seen with her travelling bag Irene waving to his father
as he step inn the bus, as bus starts moving Irene turn back
and goes home.
Jessica Seen in the kitchen preparing a sandwich and tea in
a thermos carry it to her room. She comes back and collect
all cooking materials and hides it in her room, ask his
daughter Everline to stay in the room eating and praying
games with his ipad
Irene goes to the kitchen for lunch preparation, switching
on the cooker and puts on a pan with water for making rice.
Opening cupboard there is nothing to cook no rice no flower.
There was nothing. Irene decided to switch off a cooker and
go back to her room confused on what she see without even
believing on. As she walks to the room she meet with Jessica
IRENE
Momy where is food to cook for
lunch I didnt found in the
cupboard?
JESICA
Dont ask me such a fool question
if your hungry go and ask your
father.
IRENE
Hes not here now
JESSICA
Its too late Irene dont bother
Irene put her head down and walks to her room sadly
DAY FOUR
Irene goes to a friend house and spends her day there so
that she can eat and be energetic till when his father comes
back. Going back home had a shower and goes to her bedroom
for sleeping.

DAY FIVE DAY

Irene wakes up and cleans the house, checks if there is some
thing to cook in the kitchen, cupboard were still empty.
Irene takes a glass of water and to go back to her room
waiting for her father to come back.
DAY FIVE EVENING
John in the house direct to his bedroom after few minutes
come and sit in the lounge, Irene comes down and greets her
father. A few minutes latter Jessica welcomes them for
dinner. After finishing their dinner Irene was the first
person to go to her bedroom, she was not happy with the
situation shown by her mother. Irene spokes to her self,

My mother if you could be alive I
could not experience such hard
time! May you rest in peace my
beloved mother.
THREE WEEKS LATER
John with her berg for official trip
IRENE
Iren seems not happy with his
father trip; in a low voice she
asks, "you are travelling again
dad?
JOHN
"yes darling Ill be back in three
days"
IRENE
Okay dady but Im not
happy!,you have a nice trip, see
you when your back
JOHN
Oooh dear!!!dont worry Ill be
back soon. Take care of your self.

INT.HER BEDROOM NEXT DAY

Irene seems unhappy, thinking on how the day will go with
her mother, Irene prayed and go to brush her teeth clean her
face then walk to the lounge for normal cleaning and
breakfast preparation.
After cleaning she tries opening kitchen door and found it
closed. She did not understand and tries it again
She remembers that before she got out she heard sound of
locking the door, Irene seem shaking her head. She realizes
that her mother closed it purposely.
Irene sat in the lounge watching TV and Jessica came and
sat. She is furious. She ask for TV remote and switches it
off. Jessica takes a novel lays on a coach and continue
reading.
Irene walk to her room switches on radio and lie on her bed
after two hours she wakes up and start arranging her room.
After finishing Irene seems happy, Irene change day
clothes to night wear and slept.
INT.HER BEDROOM NEXT DAY
Irene expectation prove failure. She gets confused on the
new life experience that she had started. She says to her
self
IRENE V.O
this time Ill talk to my father
this is not fair. I cant stand
this any more, what kind of mother
is this? hiding food?? Noo this is
too much.
INSIDE THE HOUSE THREE DAYS LATER
Irene talking to John about treatment she got from her
mother when John is not around
IRENE
When you go for official trips Mum
hides food and I can not eat or
access the kitchen at all but when
your back she pretend to be
friendly to me and we eat together.

Jesica wake up early this morning, do almost everything
Irene do when she wake up. Irene great her mother with no
response. Irene decided to go back into her room and had a
shower before breakfast.
John call her daughter and ask her to have breakfast with
her young sister Everylne.
The bad condition on Jessica side stay for three days and
she become normal again.
TWO WEEKS LATER MORNING
Mr John having an official trip and decide to tell her
daughter and give her pocket money
JOHN
Irene Ill be away for a week to
Scotland take this money will help
you in any case when Ill be away.
IRENE
Thank you dady, have a nice trip

Two days after a John trip Jessica prepare food for herself
and her daughter Everylne
Irene seen buying her own food and eat instead of cooking at
home.
IRENE V.O
Irene talk to herself," Why should
I stay here while Im not needed?
As long as I have money Ill use
this money as fare to travel to my
uncle house and Ill stay there
till examination results are out
and knowing the next move. Early
morning I start my journey, this is
nonsense".
Irene wakes up early the following morning and packs her
bags. Irene checks for a ticket availability and decided to
start her journey by 5:30 so she catch a bus by 6:00 am to
Scotland.
EVENING DAY FIVE
John was coming back from the trip, seem tired so he seat
in the lounge for a while. John ask his wife wheres Irene?
and got no response and starts calling
JOHN
Where is Irene? is she on bed?
JESSICA
Not sure let me check.
Jessica not aware that Irene is not in house
JESSICA
(shouting) Irene! Irene!
nocking Irene door without response
as she open she found no body there
telling husband I dont know where
is she cause she is not in her room
JOHN
What happened as I was travelled?
JESSICA
Nothing wrong but she kept in her
bedroom so I dont know the time
she left

Quite watching his husband on face
JOHN
(Phone ringing)

John phone rings, Its Elisha Irene ancle who after greetings
and simple joks he informed John that he shoud not be
worried because Irene is there from that day.
John with a great breath thanks Elisha for calling because
he was not sure where to start searching for her. Irene
always wanted to stay home I was wondering where she is.
Thank you very much for that.
THREE MONTH LATER
Irene results was out. She passed very well and selected to
continue with high school studies. John contact with her
daughter and send her money to be used for preparation for
school
Irene seems withdrawing money from ATM machine. Next day
Irene seems taking a bus to Rugby high school for her
studies.
FIVE YEARS LATER
Irene phone his dady informing him that she finished her
university studies and she has got a job where she is
supposed to start in the comming week and in that case she
couldnt manage going home till when sha apply for annual
leave after six month.

SIX MONTH LATER

Irene seems in a taxi arriving at Johns house.

to help them in their investment
after his father retirement.
They were all happy and seems hugging each other and seat
