EMC CLARiiON AX150 disk arrays enable small and to medium businesses (SMBs)
to consolidate and share storage efficiently among multiple computers, as well as
capitalize on the advantages of backup to disk. By combining the capabilities of EMCs
renowned CLARiiON RAID architecture with Serial ATA II (SATA II) disk, the AX150
delivers easy-to-use, highly reliable data storage at an affordable price.

Simple, reliable, scalable storage for SMBs

Earning wide acclaim from industry pressincluding PC PRO Magazine,
InfoWorld and SearchStoragethe AX150 disk array provides flexible,
high-performance storage for Windows, Linux, Solaris, and NetWare
servers that wont break your budget. To save you from acquiring too
much storage for some computers and too little for others, the AX150
allows you to consolidate your storage capacity and allocate it as needed
to as many as ten computers. And to improve the speed and reliability of
your backups and help simplify backup operations, the AX150 is ideal for
disk-based data protection.
The AX150 comes with EMC Navisphere Express, a browser-based
and wizard-driven interface that makes the AX150 easy to set up, manage,
and expand in SMB and distributed enterprise environments. The AX150s
hot-swap design and user-friendly configuration tools also make it practical
to start small and add storage capacity as your needs grow. CLARiiON
RAID 5 and RAID 1/0 protection, dual storage controllers, and dual power
supplies provide increased levels of reliability. Components such as disk
drives, power supply, cooling fans, or controllers are designed as customerreplaceable units in case they ever need to be changed.
Manufactured under stringent ISO 9000 quality standards, the AX150
is available in two base modelssingle controller or dual controllerto
best meet the needs of your business environment. Both models can
provide storage for multiple servers directly or through a storage area
network (SAN) using high-speed Fibre Channel or iSCSI connections. Both
models can utilize from 3 to 12 high-capacity SATA II drives in a 2U (3.5-inch)
rack-mountable enclosure, providing from 750 gigabytes to 6 terabytes of
total data storage capacity.

AX150 single-controller storage array

The single-controller AX150 is a low-cost, high performance storage array
that is well suited for first-time networked storage implementations or for
backups to disk.
The single-controller array features 512MB of controller memory with
battery-backed cache to protect you from data loss in the event of a power
outage (for up to 96 hours). A second hot-swappable power supply can be
added to guard against failure. CLARiiON RAID 5 or RAID 1/0 technology
also prevents data loss in the event of a disk drive failure. Two configuration
options are available. Using two front-end 2-gigabit Fibre Channel ports, the
AX150 single-controller array can support two direct-attached servers or up
to ten servers connected through a Fibre Channel SAN switch. Utilizing two
1-gigabit Ethernet front-end ports, the AX150 single-controller array can
store data for two direct-attached servers or up to ten servers connected
through a Gigabit Ethernet-managed switch via iSCSI (sometimes referred to
as an IPSAN). Both configuration options also support two-server clusters
for high availability.
AX150 dual-controller storage array
The dual-controller AX150 is designed for your most critical servers. In
addition to 1 gigabyte (GB) of controller memory and CLARiiON RAID
5 or RAID 1/0 data protection, the AX150 has a high degree of redundancy.
Dual-active storage controllers, mirrored cache, and dual hot-swappable
power supplies help ensure data remains highly available in the event of
component failure or power interruption. To optimize performance and
further ensure no single point of failure, the AX150 can balance data traffic
between two host bus adapters (HBAs) per connected computer or fail over
to a single HBA if the other is not functioning.

Access Time

A rack-mount uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is tightly coupled with the

dual-controller AX150 so that a graceful shutdown of the array can occur in
the event of an extended power failure. This integration with Navisphere
Express enables all AX150 data to be written safely from memory to disk,
preventing loss.
The dual-controller AX150 is also available in two configurations. Using four
front-end 2-gigabit Fibre Channel ports, the AX150 dual-controller array can
support four direct-attached servers or up to ten servers connected through
a SAN switch. Utilizing four Gigabit Ethernet front-end ports, the AX150i dualcontroller array can store data for four direct-attached servers or up
to ten servers connected through a Gigabit Ethernet managed switch via
iSCSI. Both configuration options also support two-server clusters for
high availability.

World-class service and support

The AX150 comes with a one-year system warranty with five-day/nine-hour
telephone support and next business-day (NBD) parts replacement. Optional
premium maintenance service contracts are also available in certain
