GUIDE INTRODUCTION TO ASP.NET

DEFINITION OF ASP.NET
ASP.NET is a web application framework developed and marketed
by Microsoft to allow programmers to build dynamic web sites, web
applications and web services. It was first released in January 2002 with version
1.0 of the .NET Framework, and is the successor to Microsoft's Active Server
Pages (ASP) technology. ASP.NET is built on the Common Language
Runtime (CLR), allowing programmers to write ASP.NET code using any
supported .NET language.
.ASP.NET is a server side scripting technology that enables scripts (embedded in
web pages) to be executed by an Internet server.

ASP.NET is a Microsoft Technology

ASP stands for Active Server Pages
ASP.NET is a program that runs inside IIS
IIS (Internet Information Services) is Microsoft's Internet server

INTRODUCTION OF PROJECT

AIM
To develop a social networking application with the help of our project online
webcasting, working in asp.net.

ONLINE WEBCASTING
Online Webcasting is the Web-enabled broadcasting and integration of dynamic
rich media. Unlike television or radio, traditional broadcast mediums are limited
by geography and one-way delivery. Online Webcasting leverages the
anywhere/anytime convenience of the Internet. And better than simple
conventional video and audio streaming, online webcasting creates the highestquality user experience.
Online Webcasting is a social networking where users can add people as friends
and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends
about themselves. Users can create profiles with photos, lists of personal
interests, contact information and other personal information. Communicating
with friends and other users can be done through private or public messages or a
chat feature. Users can also create and join interest groups and "like pages",
some of which are maintained by organizations as a means of advertising. To
allay concerns about privacy, it enables users to choose their own privacy
settings and choose who can see what parts of their profile.
Planning a major live event? Want to add pre-recorded product demos to your
website? Delivering live just-in-time training? Want to cut through the clutter of a
million static websites? Let the Internet media professionals at Securenet
Systems help you add high-quality on-demand audio/video or live webcasting to
your site! Securenet Systems lets you transmit live video and audio over the
Internet allowing an audience from a select few to an international audience of
millions tune into your broadcast.

OBJECTIVES
Following are the objectives of online webcasting:-

1. Share
Feature: Personal profiles. Create and customize a profile with certain
content such as name, location, interests, website links, and more.

Benefit: Share your story, success, services and products with the
community on your social networking website.

2. Show
Feature: Personal user image. Upload a user image to represent you on
the social networking website.

Benefit: The social community can put a face with your name, and come
to recognize you based on your familiar avatar.

3. Socialize
Feature: Communicate with text-based comments. Many social networks
allow you to communicate with friends either by private e-mail-like
correspondence, public message board-like posts, or both.

Benefit: Stay in touch with contacts, reach out to new people, and show
the community you care about company-to-client communication.

INNOVATIVE USEFULLNESS
While online webcasting is ideally suited for many applications, the following
suggests its innovative usefullness:

Text chatting
Online video conferencing.
Social networking.
Meetings
Special events
Collaborative engineering
Conferences with key partners
Discussions with supply chain partners
Sales presentations and demonstrations
Voting, panel discussions
Q&A
Keynote addresses
Training
Exchanging real time information

REASON FOR MAKING THIS PROJECT

Nowadays online webcasting is a trend followed by most of the countries. This
networking website enables even a common man sitting in any part of the world
to connect to his family and even friends sitting distance apart. This can be done
by text chatting, online video conferencing.
Online webcasting focuses on building and connecting of social networks among
people, e.g., who share interests and/or activities. A networking website consists

of profile of each user, and his/her social links, and a variety of additional
services.
Because of these good reasons we tend to create online webcasting for users to
share their experience and everyday happening with their loved ones with the
help of text chatting, online video conferencing, etc through this project.

PLAN OF WORK
While thinking of this project we kept in mind human relations and thought that
social networking i.e. connecting to people could be done with the help of a
software by making an online webcasting project. So we started off with the idea
of doing it in the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and having a backend of SQL
Server 2005.
To broadcast the information over the internet and for online video conferencing
and text chatting with the people we thought to make this project for enhancing
human relations.

CONCLUSION
With the help of this project i.e. online webcasting we tried making a social
networking system for the people to help connect them to their known people by
various means with the help of a Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and having a
backend of SQL Server 2005 to make a database.
To broadcast the information over the internet and for online video conferencing
and text chatting with the people we thought to make this project for enhancing
human relations.
