Contextual Analysis
- Analyzing what the art piece is trying to say
Impressionism - a style of painting characterized chiefly by short brush strokes of bright colors
in immediate juxtaposition to represent the effect of light on objects.
Composition - The combining of distinct parts or elements to form a whole.
Fauvism - An art style characterized by the bold distortion of form and the use of strong, pure
color.
Surrealism - An early-20th-century movement in painting begun by a group of French artists and
marked by the use of bold, often distorted forms and vivid colors. Fantastic images
Minimalism 1960s art in which objects are stripped down to their elemental manner.
Abstract impressionist a celebration for the act of painting itself

Color Wheel
Primary Colors Red, Blue and Yellow
Secondary Colors Orange, Purple, Green
Warm Colors Red, Orange, Yellow
Cool Colors Green, Blue, Violet
Monochromatic Single color Scheme
Analogous Adjacent hue (color) or side by side on the color wheel.
Complementary Colors The opposite colors to make the color more intense
