Country's First Ever Volunteer Fire Fighters - A Fire-Fighting Training

The first ever volunteer firefighter training was held in Ginsan Myun Kumsan Goon, Korea for residents to learn firefighting skills. About 160 residents attended the training, which included reporting fires to 119, extinguishing fires using fire extinguishers, operating the village's hose reel fireplug, and practicing joint firefighting. This volunteer firefighter group is the first of its kind in a rural area and aims to quickly respond to fires since professional fire trucks can take a long time to reach the village. One resident said she learned how to use their hose reel fireplug and that regular training will help the volunteers better prepare for fire emergencies.

The "Village Volunteer Firefighters" is the first independent fire fighting organization in
a rural area. This effort was made because it usually takes a long time to dispatch fire
trucks in these areas.

One of the residents who participated in the training said, "I tried using the hose reel
fireplug in our town and I now know how it is used and how important it is." She added,
"we will have a regular training, so we can be more prepared in responding to fire
emergencies."
