Helping children to self-regulate their behaviour


A new bespoke course for educators and teachers, where we will look at the importance
of supporting children with their emotional well-being, emphasising the importance of
helping children to self-regulate their behaviour.
Course Intentions:
To discuss what is meant by the term self-regulation and the links to childrens
personal, social and emotional development.

To reflect on the emotional states and behaviours that educators display and
the impact on childrens well-being.

To provide educators with a basic understanding of the physical and
psychological causes (trauma) of behaviours that challenges, including the
recognition of environmental settings, conditions and triggers.

To help educators to feel confident, by staying calm and responding in a
competent and effective manner.

To share ideas on how to empower children to self-regulate their own behaviour.

To provide educators with a range of strategies to support children with their
emotions and behaviours.

To support educators in understanding the importance of a whole setting,
holistic approach to self-regulation.

To provide educators with strategies to confidently work with parents to
promote self-regulation of their children in the home environment.

To write an action plan to support practice and ongoing setting outcomes.
