Sunday was the first day of my practicum at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Tiga
Serangkai, Parit Sulong. It was a good day. Excitement and eagerness were my
feeling during that day. I tried to block out any nerousness because I knew worrying
won!t help. I had been prepared for this and that is what I kept on my mind. I must be
positie and tied to oercome any problem smoothly.
"oweer, I was still thinking and many #uestions came into my mind. I asked
myself about anything during my training at this school. Probably, this feeling was
influenced by my new situation or experience of my practicum. $ith my S%E
experiences, I can adapt the new situation although not as much. I thought positiely
that I learnt from mistakes and always improe my weakness.
It was Sunday!s afternoon and all members of the group had arried at the
school earlier before the bell rings. $e then took a step together into a school office
and were welcomed by administratie stuff and the headmaster of the school, Puan
"a&ah Siti 'or&anah binti (hmad. She gae us a short briefing about the school and
teaching timetable to us.
Then, we met Tuan "a&i )usa, *+uru Penolong Kanan Kokurikulum! at the
school. "e gae us some explanation about the co,curriculum actiity and our duties
in the co,curriculum programme at the school. Puan )aulidah was my cooperating
teacher of ma&or sub&ect, English. She explained a lot of information about the tasks
as a trainee teacher. She told us about classroom management, teaching and
learning process and others.
I had to teach English -ear . Pintar. (ccording to Puan )aulidah, pupils of
-ear . Pintar were better than -ear . %i&ak because -ear . Pintar &ust had /0 pupils.
The pupils in this class were easier to control compared to -ear . %i&ak. The pupils in
-ear . %i&ak were hyperactie and #uite difficult to control.
1n my second day, I met . Pintar. I had to teach the English sub&ect. 2or the
first time entering the class, they were not difficult to handle. They were willing
participants and made me welcome. I &ust did ice,breaking actiity and they
introduced themseles.
3uring my first week, I &ust find out the information about the teaching process
with my cooperating teacher for English Sub&ect. I also met Puan "asni, English
teacher of -ear 4 Pintar. I got the syllabus for this sub&ect from her. (ctually, I took
her class -ear . Pintar, so she told me what the topic that I need to continue and
coer up.
1n my first week, I found a few of things which I need to discoer. The first
thing is I had some difficulties to handle the class. It was my first time. I couldn!t know
yet how to control the pupils well. Some of them were actie and like to talk while I
am teaching in front of the class. So, it will disrupt other pupils to learn. To oercome
that, I used my strong oice and shouted loudly to get their attention. I tried to be
strict to them to make them respect to me. ( few of them were not obeying my
instruction. )aybe they thought that I am &ust a practical teacher, so, no need to
respect more like other teachers.
