Characterisation of Used Groundnut Oils As Biodiesel Feed Stock Authors: Subash, Senthil Kumar, and Jayakrishna

This document discusses characterizing used groundnut oils as a feedstock for biodiesel production. The authors tested biodiesel produced from used groundnut oil and compared its fuel properties and engine performance to biodiesel from fresh groundnut oil and baseline diesel fuel. Tests found that biodiesel from used groundnut oil had nearly 37% lower hydrocarbon emissions than baseline diesel, though it suffered around 5% lower brake thermal efficiency at higher engine loads compared to biodiesel from fresh oil. The results indicate used groundnut oil is a suitable feedstock for biodiesel production.
