Design and Development of An Embedded System For Robotic Arm Movement Control Using Voice Recognition and Zigbee Communication Technologies

This project aims to design an intelligent robotic arm that can be controlled wirelessly using voice commands via a speech recognition module and Zigbee communication. The robot has three sections: a robot section to pick and place objects, a controlling section to interpret voice commands and send wireless signals to control the robot, and a monitoring section with a webcam to view the robot. When voice commands are input, the microcontroller identifies the command and sends corresponding data via Zigbee to the robot section microcontroller to control motors and manipulate objects as instructed. This embedded system uses various components like a PIR sensor, robotic arm, motors, and an LCD interface to build a voice-controlled picking and placing robot.

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF AN EMBEDDED SYSTEM FOR ROBOTIC ARM

MOVEMENT CONTROL USING VOICE RECOGNITION AND ZIGBEE
COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES

The aim of this project is to designing an intelligent voice operated pick and placed robot
which can be controlled using wireless technologies through ZIGBEE communication.
The presented robot control system can be used for different sophisticated robotic
applications. Speech is the primary and most convenient means of communication between
humans. Whether due to technological curiosity to build machines that mimic humans or desire
to automate work with machine, research in speech recognition as a first step towards human-
machine communication. Speech recognition is the process of recognizing the spoken word to
take necessary actions accordingly.
In this project there are three sections one is robot section, controlling section and
monitoring section .Robot section is used to pick and place the objects and controlling section is
used to control the robot operation based on voice speech recognition module. When the user fed
the voice commands to the speech recognition module, the microcontroller interfaced to it reads
the command and sends relevant data of that command wirelessly using ZIGBEE transceiver
module. This data is received by the transceiver module on the robotic vehicle and feds it to
microcontroller which acts accordingly on motors, picks and place the objects. In monitoring
section web camera which helps in viewing the live images on PC which is placed on robot and
also the vehicle is capable of detecting the person.
In this project, speech recognition module, wireless transceiver modules, obstacle
detector DC motors and buzzer are interfaced to Microcontroller. We are using a PIR sensor
which senses the persons and a robotic arm with a pick and place module designed with a
combination of geared motors serves the purpose of picking the object and placing them in the
plotted place which is predefined. We are also using an H-Bridge (L293D) which acts as a driver
to the motors to make them rotate in different directions. Here an LCD will also be provided to
display the process.
This project uses regulated 5V, 500mA power supply. 7805 three terminal voltage
regulator is used for voltage regulation. Bridge type full wave rectifier is used to rectify the ac
output of secondary of 230/12V step down transformer.
