Blended Learning Advantages Disadvantages 1) Students learn wherever they are. 2) Teachers can assign task wherever they are. 3) Information is available anywhere there is network. 4) Flexible schedules for busy people, taking into consideration that students can complete their tasks whenever they are able to do it. 5) Saving money by not using printed materials. 6) Working peacefully at home 7) Developing cognitive skills by using TECH. 1) Teachers are not able to supervise the whole process and this is sometimes important in case teachers opinion is needed. 2) Not everyone has access to internet. 3) Not everyone has an electronic device such as: computer, tablets, and smartphones. 4) Student can easily cheat because teacher cannot control it.
Web 2.0 Advantages Disadvantages 1) Well use of internet. 2) Maximize the use of the services that web offers. 3) Network for professional purposes. 4) Reliable information for specific needs. 5) Development of cognitive skills. 6) Make questions and receive answers. 1) Not everyone has access to internet. 2) Not everyone has an electronic device such as: computer, tablets, and smartphones. 3) Some people can provide not reliable information. 4) Some people can get lost easily and waste time in entertaining things.
7) Participate in discussions or forums in order to get or provide information. Edu 2.0 Advantages Disadvantages 1) Students have no limit for getting new information. 2) Students have a wide variety of sources and resources to improve their development. 3) Teachers are not limited with their role, they can go beyond the school walls. 4) Facilitates teaching-learning process. 5) Generate an interacting platform among students. 1) Not everyone has access to internet. 2) Not everyone has an electronic device such as: computer, tablets, and smartphones. 3) Schools have no internet sometimes. 4) Students are not supervised by teachers when they are not at school and for that reason they get lost easily. Instructional Technology Advantages Disadvantages 1) It is attractive for students, they are eager about using it. 2) Facilitates teaching learning process. 3) Help teachers to create interact groups beyond the classroom. 4) Sharing information easily. 5) Help each other (teacher- student) easily. 1) Not everyone has access to internet. 2) Not everyone has an electronic device such as: computer, tablets, and smartphones. 3) Schools have no internet sometimes. 4) Misuse of technology.
2. Explain how you are going to design a lesson plan online by using Web Quest and what are the real propose using this kind of technology in your professional development. The use of a lesson plan is very important for teachers, is a guide or map, is the plan for the class, technology can help teachers to create interacting lesson plans to manage information, to assign tasks, and for evaluating, technology provide us tools to create interesting and attractive lesson plans, the use of technology in designing lesson plans can also motivate students to learn, students who are tired of regular and traditional classes, technology also makes possible to open our minds. Everything what the teacher has to teach is important for students, the teacher should use technology to improve their class, without technology we can feel short or limited but the use of technology in designing a lesson plan can expand horizons. Zunal.com is an interesting and useful web site to create a web quest, teachers can also create a group on Facebook or a blog to post the link of the web quest, so students can access to the web quest by using instructional technology. An example that I made is based on the topic The right way to behave in the classroom although is not a topic related to Technology I can use technology to teach this important topic. 1) I use the web quest to detail the class and explain important items. 2) I use the web quest to show videos of how students have to behave in class. 3) Students can also make a video about how to behave in class adding element of our real context, and upload it to the web quest. As I said before this topic is not mainly related to technology, is a topic that should be taught in every level and everywhere and technology provide us the tools and resources to do it in a more attractive way.
3. Explain how you are going to deal if you want to use technology in a school or place of work but there is not Tech in the classroom. What are you going to do? How are you going to solve the problem? Provide resources that you will use and the procedures This problem normally occurs in our context many schools do not have access to technology, such as: computers, internet, multimedia projector, etc. This is the reality of many schools, so teachers have to find a way to use technology even when it is not available in school, taking into consideration that previously we have been explaining the advantages and disadvantages of using technology. In my case if I am in a certain situation and I want to use technology and technology is not available, I would keep always in mind that the use of technology goes beyond a classroom, the first thing I would do is to make sure that all my students have access to technology at home or in a cyber, if some of them have not access to technology, I would divide the class in groups, students who do not have access to technology with students who have access to technology, in this way those who have access can also become tutors and subsequently developing new skills, cognitive skills through teaching others. These groups would meet after classes and following the instructions which are given before, they put in practice what they have learned by theory, and to prove by myself that my students have learned, I would schedule a short trip to a cyber, I would arrange everything with the owner of the cyber and I would rent it for a couple of hours in order to develop a workshop with my students. This activity I would try to repeat it as soon as possible, trying to monitor how my students are improving, trying to encourage them to use technology, trying to be inspiring, teaching to my students that we cannot be limited to resources that our system can provide us, if the system is not capable to provide all what we need, we have make do with the a few resources I have or I can get. Through this activity I pursuit to create conscience in my students, that what we have to do is to change the way we think, not being satisfied with the methods or systems we have, if the systems and the methods are good, we can make them better. Through this activity I also pursuit to dare my students to build their personal learning environment to encourage that through technology we can create a new, interesting and attractive learning environment. So in my case I would not give up if I do not have technology or resources in the school in order to use technology, I would do it developing the plan I just explained.
4. Choose digital resources you will include and describe how those digital resources you are going to improve you PLE and PLN. My PLE (Personal Learning Environment) is the environment from which I learn and get all the information for my personal development, within this environment I use different tools and web sites to achieve my personal learning goals.
