Design of Syphon

This document provides the design details for the reinforced concrete barrels of a canal syphon. It includes calculations for determining the distribution factors, dead loads, earth pressures, fixing moments, design moments, required member thicknesses, and reinforcement details. The syphon consists of two 3m x 2.5m barrels. Design moments, fixing moments, and required reinforcement are calculated for each of the three spans - AB, CD, and AD. Reinforcement is specified as 16mm bars spaced 12.5cm, 11.25cm, and 16.25cm respectively for the three spans.
