INTERCESSOR TYPES

Intercessor/Intercession Types
I often hear people say, Im not an intercessor and I cant pray like him or her. They think that if you pray
over a list, youre not an intercessor. Please, dont take hold of that stereotype!
Intercessors are steady, faithfully praying people. If you are in your prayer closet and are faithful to the
burden that God gives but youre not a high energy, up front, in the public view person, relax! He knows
your personality and gave you the intercession designed just for you.
The emergence and synergy of Apostolic/Prophetic ministry has broadened the description and
understanding of intercession and intercessors in these last days. As you look through the list below,
youll probably suddenly exclaim, That's me! Congratulations, youve identified yourself as an
intercessor! If you dont see yourself in the list, add another category! Dont exclude yourself anymore
or compare yourself. I encourage you to flow in your gift because its a necessary part of Gods
heart being released.
This is by no means an exhaustive list And yet, it might even be to long for some people! Its not that one
type is more important than another, its just where God positions the intercessor for greater effectiveness
according to their personality and region. He works with personalities and knows how to put a mantle on
His people. God put a certain type of prayer on you because it was a mantle that did not fit another
intercessor!
This list was complied in a brainstorming session by many intercessors and is meant to show the depth,
broadness, bigness, and wonderfulness of Gods creativity as He expresses Himself through His praying

Apostolic I ntercessors Those who call for the change of government in the House of God, in
cities, regions and nations.Combines with Governmental, Breaker anointing and Warfare
Intercessors.
Bridal I ntercessors Those who give expression to the Song of Solomon; e.g. Ana; Mary of
Bethany. Praying for and keeping intimacy with the Lord as a priority in intercession.
Breaker Anointing I ntercessors those who carry the breaker anointing in
intercession. Particularly used in a forerunner/apostolic context to break open hardened regions
so the 5 fold ministry of Ephesians 4:11can begin new works.
Church Revival I ntercessors - Those who call for revival in the Body of Christ located in
particular cities; e.g. the church in New York, the church in Miami, etc..
Crisis I ntercessors Those who have wisdom to know the prayers on Gods heart in crisis times
Financial Intercessors Those who call for the transfer of wealth into the Kingdom.
Family I ntercessors - Those who bring families and family issues before the Throne. Concerned
for the integrity of the family and marriage in society.
Glory Intercessors Those who call for the outpouring of glory in the last days with
signs, wonders and miracles so that the glory of God will cover the earth.
Governmental Intercessors Those who pray for governmental change. They must have a pure
heart and proper motivation due to principalities they will encounter in the intercession. See
Apostolic.
I ssue I ntercessors Those who pray for such issues as repentance, abortion, racism, injustice,
etc.
J udicial I ntercessors Call for justice for the poor, the unborn, the oppressed, etc. Overlaps
with governmental and issue intercessors. Most of this has to do with bringing the government of
God into the world. Can overlap with other areas since its about the scales of justice being
called forth.
List I ntercessors - Those who pray for others prayer requests in list form.
Leader I ntercessors Those who pray for leaders of nations, governments, etc.
Mercy I ntercessors Those who call for mercy for people and situations both personally and
corporately.
Personal I ntercessors - Those whom God gives a ministry leader or particular person to pray
for over long periods of time.
People Group I ntercessors Those who pray for unreached people groups, cultures or nations
worldwide e.g. the Dalits of India, Amazon tribes, Generation X ers, etc. would be considered
unreached people groups.
Prophetic I ntercessors Those who see and pray out of revelation the current burdens on God's
heart; they receive both the revelation and identify it for the corporate body.
Research I ntercessors Those who are usually called to research historical situations and
patterns before praying; e.g. broken treaties, war patterns, spiritual mapping, etc.
Restoration/Reconciliation/Salvation I ntercessors Those who pray for the restoration of all
things in the lives of people, situation and nations as they are calling for reconciliation with
God. Intercessors with a strong evangelistic mantle.
Warfare I ntercessors - Those with an anointing for spiritual warfare to break through demonic
realms in prayer. Spiritual warfare has time dimensions which are different from
intercessions. Intercessions are carried over longer periods of time with warfare
interspersed. These intercessors will come forth at key times in the intercessions.
Worship I ntercessors - Those who are given to the place of worship as their intercession; e.g.
Harp and Bowl type, those called with a Zadok anointing in intercession, etc.
