Activity 2
Based on the
Instructions:
In a group of 3 or 4, discuss and propose a system to be developed.
Name of system:
AIRLINE INTEGRATED RESERVATIONS SYSTEM (AIReS)
Brief description of the system:
AIReS basically integrate public transports and accommodations reservations such as hotel,
buses, taxis, and trains into airline reservations system. Airline reservations system
previously was utilized only for tickets reservations, online check-ins, and flight status. By
integrating the reservations systems for hotels, trains, buses and taxis into airline reservation
system, passengers will no longer find difficulty in looking for accommodations and
transports once they reach their destinations. The system will include options for hotels,
trains, buses and taxis under fare quote that a customer can choose when they book for online
airline tickets. When a customer opt for accommodations and transports, the system will
provide the customer options of participating hotels, trains, buses and taxis that the customer
can choose as he sees fit. The fare quotes will include the options that the customer chooses
and then he can perform the payment. AIReS will also widen the means of looking up
information about a customers reservations. Apart from using the internet to look up the
reservation status, a customer can look up his reservations status on the kiosks or by tapping
his Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled smartphones on NFC tags available at an
airport. The kiosks and the NFC tags can also be used for customers to perform check-ins
rather than lining up at the counters or whenever internet is not available for online check-ins.
