whistle. whenever you hear the whistle I want
you to stop where you are and look at me.
Checking for understanding-
Who can tell me what level our stick should
not be going above today? (knee level)

Today's objective: To be able to perform the
forehand shot successfully by shooting your
puck or hockey ball through a set of cones.

Skill Cues:
The teacher will quickly go over the grip
used that was discussed in a previous class.
Dominant hand halfway down the stick, non
dominant hand towards the top of the stick.
The stick is to your dominant hand side. To
perform the forehand shot:
Eyes on target
stick back (below the knee)
Step with opposition
follow through (stick low)

The teacher will quickly explain the drill.
Students will have stick and a puck laying in
front of them. They will be facing a wall with
two cones making a goal. Their job is to from
where they are standing, shoot their puck at
the wall and between the cones.

Demonstration:
Before students start, the teacher will give a
demonstration of what the task should look
like. The teacher will use whole part whole in
order to explain the cues successfully while
performing the shot.

between the cones.

The teacher will dismiss students and will
walk around and give specific feedback to all
the students.

Extension up:
1. Students will be asked to take 2 steps
backwards to increase distance
2. IF the students want to, they can
make their cones closer together to
decrease the size of the goal.

Extension down:
1. Students will be asked to take 2 steps
inwards
2. The students will make themselves a
larger goal

Teacher positioning: The teacher will be
positioned on the outsides of the gym,
walking around giving specific feedback to
the students.

Accommodations: Students who are not able
to shoot towards the wall can walk around
with the teacher and analyze how students are
doing in their task. Students who are not able
to perform with the equipment will be given a
larger ball, a smaller stick, or more room to
practice their skill

Assessment: Teacher observation- The
teacher will be assessing the students based
on the skill cues given.
--------------------------
Transition- The teacher will have students
collect the cones on the sides of the walls and
bring them to a spot on the sides of the gym.
Each student will take their ball and make a
pile next to the stack of cones. The students
will then collect in the middle of the gym.

Modified Game- Cone Knockover

The students will be placed in about a 15
yard x 15 yard box. On two sides of the
square (across from each other) There will be
a numerous about of cones lined up. The
object of the game is to try and knock over as
many of your opponents goals as you can
without conceding too many yourself. The
groups will be split into two teams based on
their birthday year. January through June will
be on one side, July through december on the
other (the teacher will then make teams
equal)

The teacher will be on the side of the square
with a pile of pucks ready to distribute the
balls when one goes flying out of bounds.

Transitions- The teacher will ask the
students to collect all the hockey pucks and
the cones and bring them all back to the
center of the gym.

Closure-

So who can tell me the 4 skill cues we went
over for the forehand pass? (eyes on the ball,
stick back, step with opposition, follow
through)

Our goal today was to make sure we stayed
safe in terms of following the safety rules,
you all did (insert how well students did here
and give feedback)

Thanks everyone for a great class, see you all
next week!
