The A-scan, the four selected functions, and the measurement line with the current results of the evaluated echo display are shown. In the zoom mode, the A-scan is enlarged over the entire screen; the menus are not displayed.
bration, and all functions for tests using angle-beam probes, including flaw position calculation. Plus: easy management of the data memory, namely alphanumeric designation of data sets, editable fields for further identification, and display of all data sets in a directory list. An additional interface for the output of gate alarm or trigger signal and for test data rounds off the USM 25. It gets even more user-friendly with the USM 25 DAC which offers the possibilities of generating and using distance-amplitude curves for the
evaluation of echo indications, including direct switchover as TCG. Added to this is the DGS evaluation on the USM 25S. There are 24 probes stored for the calculation of a DGS curve, with one probe being individually programmable for each data set. Plus thickness data logger. The application range is extended even further by the optional Data Logger: you can simultaneously use the USM 25 for recording and documentating thickness readings.
Crack echo from a 2.4 m (94.5) long shaft at a depth of approx. 780 mm (30.7).
Precision thickness measurement between 1st and 2nd backwall echo (1.99 mm/0.078) with the option data logger and tolerance monitor.
Pitting at a depth of 5.64 mm (0.222) on steam piping (diameter 76 mm (3), wall thickness 10 mm (0.4)
For example: large forgings USM 22L Ultrasonic testing of large workpieces is often disturbed by so-called phantom echoes that simulate flaw echoes. Apart from a high pulser capacity, a successful test requires a variable pulse repetition frequency.
For example: wall thickness measurement USM 25 with Data Logger Two gates help to carry out thickness measurements with a high accuracy using two successive backwall echoes, the minimum thickness measured is captured during scanning. Protective coatings e.g. paint does not have to be removed during this. A third gate controls the automatic A-scan freeze if required, e.g. with high-temperature measurements or spot weld testing. Optional tolerance limits can be input to monitor the current reading. If required, the corresponding A-scan is saved together with the measured value. Practical report list functions allow a quick overview of all stored data including a printout of reports. Thickness measurements can be stored in linear or grid form including an individual description of each measurement location and comments on the result.
For example: welt testing - USM 25 USM 22 and USM 25 are well-suited for weld testing. The USM 25 DAC is equipped with the necessary functions for flaw location and evaluation according to international test specifications. All flaw coordinates are displayed in the measurement line: sound path (reduced) projection distance, flaw depth. In addition, the recording threshold violation in dB above DAC is zoomed in the A-scan as required.
Flaw echo from a weld with multiple DAC; 7.2 dB above the recorded DAC curve.
