IEEE 802.1ah

IEEE 802.1ah-2008, also known as Provider Backbone Bridges (PBB), is a set of architectures and protocols that allows multiple Provider Bridge Networks to interconnect without losing each customer's individually defined VLANs. It provides complete separation of customer and provider domains by defining a new Ethernet header with a backbone source/destination MAC and a backbone VLAN ID. Bridges in the PBB domain switch based on the backbone VLAN ID and MAC values.
