Generic Name: 50 mg Hyoscine It inhibits muscarinic actions of acetylcholine and may affect neural pathways originating in the inner ear to inhibit nausea and vomiting. It is contraindicated in patients with angle-closure glaucoma, obstructive neuropathy, obstructive GI disease, asthma, chronic pulmonary disease or acute hemorrhage. Adverse effects include disorientation, restlessness, irritability, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, delirium, impaired memory, palpitations, tachycardia, bradycardia, flushing, dilated pupils, blurred vision, photophobia, increased intraocular pressure, difficulty swallowing, constipation, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting

Raise side rails as precaution because some patient become temporarily excited or disoriented and some develop amnesia or become drowsy. Tolerance may develop when therapy is prolonged. Atropine like toxicity may cause dose related adverse reactions. Alert: overdose may cause respiratory paralysis.
